John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only born Son, that anyone who believes in Him should never perish, but have eternal life." What a joy to know that Mark received that free gift and now stands face-to-face with his Savior.

Mark's faith and confidence in our Father were unwaivering and an inspiration to many of us at Grace Atlanta Bible Church. He will be greatly missed. God honored him and brought him home to be face to face with our Lord sharing in his Happiness. Having been a sailor, I can truly say that Mark will have "Fair Winds and Following Seas" for eternity.
Ps 107.29
He caused the storm to be still,
So that the waves of the sea were hushed
Sincerely,

I did not know Mark but was compelled to pray for him. I look forward to meeting him in Heaven so that we may worship the Lord face to face together under the same unity of the faith.

Unfortunately, we never had the privilege to meet Mark face-to-face. We know Mark only through those that love him, the greatest of which is the Lord Jesus Christ who paid the price for all sin (1 Jn 2:2) and made it a certainty that we will be reunited with him again taking away the sting of death. God uses prepared people (II Tim 2:21, NASB) and Mark was prepared. God’s test for Mark was cancer, a disease that slowly ate away at the physical presence of the man. The disease attacked Mark’s body but nothing could attack his soul, fortified as it was with Bible doctrine (Psalm 1:3, NASB). In that respect, Mark's presence was never stronger than when God choose to call him into His presence. As cancer took away Mark’s physical strength and health, his spiritual strength was evident. A true Christian soldier (Eph 6:11, NASB). Mark passed the test long before God called him home. With metabolized Bible doctrine circulating in his soul he recognized “the battle was the Lord’s” just as David did prior to hurling the stone toward Goliath (I Sam 17:47, NASB). If God is for us, who is against us? (Rom 8:31, NASB). So as we bid Mark farewell, we’re not saying "Good Bye" but simply "See you later".
(I Thes 4:14-18, NASB)

Please know our thoughts and prayers are with the Richard's family. While Mark is now face to face with His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ with no more sorrow or pain, we are left here to miss him. I pray the memories of Mark stay with you and comfort you until you meet again eternally with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Matt 25:21 "His master said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful slave. You were faithful with a few things, I will put you in charge of many things; enter into the joy of your master.'

Mark was one of the people who gave meaning to the prayer "gone before us marked with the sign of faith". While he will be missed by those of us who knew him, I pray our paths cross again in heaven where I know he is telling stories and making other smile.

For the perishable must cloth itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality then the saying that is written will come true:"Death has been swallowed up in victory. "Where oh death is your victory? Where oh death is your sting? ICor 15:53

"How blessed is the man who finds wisdom And the man who gains understanding." (Prov 3:13) Mark had both. I know he is now experiencing what the Psalmist anticipated when he wrote, "I shall behold Your face in righteousness; I will be satisfied with your likeness when I awake". (Ps 17:15)

Mark, the men of the Wednesday Men's Prayer Meeting, Grace Atlanta Bible Church learned a tremendous amount about prayer, our Heavenly Father, our Savior, and the Holy Spirit during this past year while we entreated the Lord on your behalf. We will stand proudly in a heavenly formation while He says those precious words to you sir, "Well done, good and faithful servant!" (Matt 25:21)

I had the wonderful honor of praying with Mark before he fell asleep in the Lord. He was a fine Christian man and a great American whose company I will seek in heaven. Psalm 116:15

I knew Mark only through the stories that everyone at ILRU told about him. Because of that, I will always think of Mark with the laughter of his co-workers telling stories about him. Those Mark stories will warm the halls of ILRU for as long as they are told -- and remembered.
