Marvin Levy Obituary

Levy
Marvin G. Levy, born April 2, 1942, passed away October 31, 2011, after a valiant and hard fought battle against Multiple Myeloma. Father, grandfather, husband, brother, son, uncle, cousin and friend, he lived his life to the fullest. A 1960 graduate of Bellaire High School, Marvin went on to graduate from the University of Houston with a degree in Pharmacy. He followed in his father's foot steps and became a pharmacist and worked in the family-owned business, Interurban Pharmacy, until he retired in 1992.
He married Marilyn Bush in 1976, and they shared many wonderful years together cruising the world. Marvin and Marilyn moved to Lago Vista, Texas, in 1994 where he resided until the time of his death.
To those who knew him, he was generous, intelligent, successful, and witty. He took great personal interest in each family member's accomplishments and was always quick to offer genuine advice. He beamed with pride every time he mentioned his daughters and grandchildren. His words said it best, "All of you are my reason for being."
He was preceded by death by his beloved parents, Bernard and Esther Levy. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn, daughters, Ellen Idler and Tami Prevett, and their husbands. "Papa" to his beloved grandchildren, he is survived by Brina and Trevor Idler and Shyanne Prevett. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Lorraine Levy and nephews Ryan and Sean Levy. Marvin's family extends heart felt thanks and gratitude to Dr. Raymond Alexanian at MD Anderson and Dr. Jerry Fain at Texas Oncology along with their supporting staffs for their excellent and compassionate care for the past eight years. His family also would like to thank the doctors, care takers, and staff at Hospice Austin's Christopher House for their excellent care.
In lieu of flowers please make direct contributions to the Chronic Disease Fund (cdfund.org) or the charity of your choice. Services are scheduled for Thursday, November 3, 2011 at 11:00 am, Beth Yeshurun Cemetery, Houston, Texas. Rabi Rosen will officiate.

I did not have a lot of contact with Marvin since he lived in Texas and I am in Highland Park. I would see him at family get togethers. He was always fun to be with. I remember one Thanksgiving at Ron and Ellen's where Marvin joined us on skype. We moved the laptop from room to room so he could join us. He got a kick out of it, especially being able to "be with" his grandchild ( children - I can't remember when that was, if Trevor was born yet)
He will be missed.
