Mary Ann Kokes

Mary Ann Fajkus Kokes, 89 passed away July 7th in her home in Houston Texas. She was born October 28, 1933 in Praha TX, daughter of the late Adolph Fajkus Sr. and Agnes(Bily) Fajkus. She was united in marriage with Joseph A. Kokes in Praha TX on May 6, 1957.
She was a devoted housewife and mother to her 3 children. In addition to being a stay-at-home Mom she provided daycare to numerous children for 40 years. She was a member of KJZT Society No. 4 Praha for over 50 years and a parishioner of St. Theresa Catholic Church in Houston for 66 years.
She is survived by her son, Patrick Kokes, daughters Sandra and Doris Kokes all of Houston; grandchildren: Jason Kokes and his wife Holly of Cypress; Christine VanVeghel and her husband Robbie of Houston and Matthew Kokes and his wife Karen of Schulenburg; great grandchildren, Annabelle and Hunter Kokes, Tyler and Thomas VanVeghel and Jack and Charlee Kokes. Sister Georgia Wendel of Houston. Sister-in-Laws, Rose Recek of La Grange, Libby Geistmann of Industry and Theresa Jozwiak of Brenham.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Kokes, her parents Adolph and Agnes Fajkus, her sisters, Agnes Grahmann, Lillian Mazoch, Judith Pavlica and brother Adolph Fajkus Jr., sister-in-laws Mary Kokes and Helen Machac.
The family will receive family and friends on Tuesday, July 11th from 5:00pm until 8:00pm with a Rosary beginning at 6:30pm at Earthman Funeral Directors in the Hunters Creek Chapel, 8303 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX 77024. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at 10:30am at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Praha, TX.
