Mary Ellen Stubbe
1940-2017
Mary Ellen Stubbe, 76, died February 9, 2017, at her home in Georgetown, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Carl Stubbe, and an infant son, James Donald Stubbe. She is survived by her sons, Richard Stubbe of Houston and John Stubbe of Austin; her daughter and son-in-law, Ellen Stubbe Kester and Steve Kester of Austin; her sister and brother-in-law, Sally and Tim Blewett of Little Rock, Arkansas; her daughter-in-law, Diana Stubbe of Houston; six grandchildren, including Christina (Alix) Charles and Marissa Stubbe of Houston.
She was born December 15, 1940, in Little Rock, the first of two daughters of Carl and Dorothy (Harpham) Lenggenhager. She graduated from Little Rock Hall High School in 1958, then attended the University of Arkansas.
She and Don were married June 28, 1961, at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas. They lived in Pittsburgh, Charlotte, Little Rock, Houston, Singapore, and Columbus, Ohio. Mary Ellen worked at five Marshall Field's stores in three cities.
After Don died in Columbus in 2002, she moved to Georgetown, where she was a member of Grace Episcopal Church and the Sisterhood of PEO. She loved the Pittsburgh Steelers and enjoyed mah jongg and bridge.
Services are scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Saturday, February 18, at Grace Episcopal Church, 1314 East University Avenue in Georgetown. Contributions may be made to the IR chapter of PEO, in care of Alice Poage, 531 Mill Pond Path, Georgetown, TX, 78633.
