Max Simms Obituary

MAX THOMAS SIMMS, JR., died peacefully January 26, 2009, in Tyler, TX, with his family at his side. Mr. Simms was born August 23, 1926, in Dallas, TX, son of Max T. Sr. & Alpha Leonard Coleman Simms and grew up in Tulsa, OK. He is survived by his wife Lynda, sister Betty Favour, daughter Cynthia Simms, sons Richard and Tracy Simms, daughter in law Amy, grandchildren Sean and Mike Smith, Mikey and Ricky Simms, Lauryn, Kyle and Meagan Simms. His is predeceased by son Michael Mosier Simms. Max founded Max Simms Aircraft, Inc., in Houston, TX over 25 years ago. After moving to Hide a Way Lake in 1989 Max continue business at Tyler Pounds Field until June, 1999, when he retired. He lived life with great passion; played semi-professional hockey, was long time member of the barbershop singing society SPEBSQSA, Rotary International, served on various committees at Hide A Way Lake, sang in the Chancel Choir at First United Methodist Church, was avid aviator, golfer, hunter and fisherman. Services will be held at the First United Methodist Church Lindale, Friday January 30, 2009, at 11:00am. Visitation will be Thursday evening 6:00-8:00 pm at Caudle-Rutledge Funeral Home in Lindale. Interment graveside service will be held at Memorial Cemetery in Oklahoma City, Saturday, January 31, 2009, at 11:00am.
