Meg Bourne Obituary

Meg Bourne
1964-2022
Meg Elaine Bourne was born on August 9, 1964 in Mobile, Alabama and passed away in Houston, Texas on January 22, 2022.
Meg graduated from Cy-Fair High School in 1982, where she was named Friendliest in her class. She proceeded to graduate from The University of Texas at Austin in 1986. She spent her career building relationships as an account executive at Nike, Inc., where she leaves behind her beloved teammates.
Meg lived her life with infectious hope, kindness, humor and laughter. Her laugh tickled everyone. She laughed often and with gusto. Meg cheered for the underdog. One of her favorite assignments as a member of the Junior League of Austin was working with troubled teens.
She loved traveling and had an encyclopedic knowledge of movies.
Meg was loyal. If you were in her life, you had an advocate forever. Through her laughter and love, she was a fighter. She fought a five-year battle with cancer to the last breath for a chance to stay here and be with her people.
Above all, Meg loved her people. She adored her family and dearly loved her friends. And if you are a Nike coworker reading this, please know that you are family to her and to us.
The world would be a brighter place if more people had her attitude. There would be more laughter, more joy, more positivity and more fiercely loving people. That's who she was and it's the perfume of what she is leaving behind.
Meg's family extends its heartfelt thanks to Dr. Yuval Raizen at Oncology Consultants in Houston, Texas, and Dr. Neeta Somaiah at MD Anderson for the attentive care each provided her.
She is survived by her adoring family, parents Carolyn and Jim Bourne, sister Phyllis Rhea and brother-in-law Bill Rhea, nephew Sam Rhea and wife Rachel, nephew Tom Rhea and wife Lauren, a big loving Mississippi family of aunts, uncles, cousins, and by more beloved friends than you can shake a stick at.
We've lost people before but we've never lost a Meg. We will miss her every day for the rest of our lives. We figured we'd get to grow old with her and make more memories. And laugh really loud a lot more times.
A service celebrating Meg will be held on Friday, February 18, 2022 at 11a.m. at LifeAustin Chapel in Austin, Texas, 8901 State Hwy 71, Austin, TX 78735. In lieu of flowers, Meg requested donations be made to Texas Baptist Children's Home in Round Rock, Texas.

Hello! I worked with Meg for many years as one of her Academy buyers. She always made everyone feel welcome and kept things fun! Her laughter and smile kept everyone positive. After I was no longer with Academy we would keep in touch via Instagram. Meg will be missed, but made so many people smile while she was here. I´m really lucky to have called her a friend!
