It's funny how life brings people into your lives.

Although Chris and Lauren were friends and Cody and Ben are friends, I met Mike and Kathy because Mike and Lauren shared something very foreign and very cruel-Cancer.

I remember it was right after Lauren was diagnosed. We all were at the Young Life Fundraising Banquet. These two amazing people(Mike and Kathy) walked up to me and introduced themselves and offered to help Lauren and I through the devastating journey ahead of us. Unbelieveable were the kindness and yes, "love at first sight" if you will, demonstrated by the Harrises. The love and compassion they showed me at our first meeting still brings a smile to my face.

I am still in awe of the bravery the entire family exhibits. I know that Mike's experiences and the way he handled those challenges were inspirational to Lauren. To say that Kathy and I became friends under the worst of circumstances is an understatement.

Kathy, Chris and Cody, I love you all and I will pray for each of you as you face these days ahead. I can not tell you that I have any sense of your loss, only that my heart is broken for you. However, I know that Lauren was there to greet Mike with her dazzling smile and a huge hug.

And now, we wait....
