Mildred Racca Griffin passed away in Houston on March 17th, 2011.
Mildred was born on May 30, 1918 in Welsh, Louisiana the daughter of John and Amant Racca. Mildred served 5 years as an army nurse in one of the first MASH units in World War II travelling all over Europe and North Africa. After the war she worked over 20 years as a nurse in the neonatal unit at Hermann Hospital .
Millie is predeceased by her husband, Howard Griffin and survived by her beloved children: her son, Gregory Griffin and his wife Mary of Houston and her daughters, Gayle Griffin of Round Rock, TX and Sandie Bench and her husband John Bench of Cypress, Tx. She leaves behind two grandchildren, Brittney and Brett Bench. She was a wonderful wife, mother and friend to all who knew her and will be deeply missed.
The memorial service will be held at the Houston National Cemetery on Friday, March 25th at 9:00 am. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to be made out to Memorial Southwest Hospital in care of the Neo-natal Unit
