Neta Dial Recht, 70, of Richmond, Texas, went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 23, 2015. She was born on January 3, 1945 in Texarkana, Arkansas to her parents, Mamie Walker Dial and Robert Joel Dial. She grew up in Wake Village, Texas and graduated from Texas Senior High School in Texarkana, Texas in 1963. She attended North Texas State University and received Bachelor of Science and Master's degrees in education in 1967 and 1975, respectively. Neta taught school and was a counselor in the Irving Independent School District until she married her beloved husband, Dwight Recht in 1989, who, in her words "made everything that she enjoyed in life possible."
Neta loved her home, her flower gardens and her dogs, Misty and Chipper. She had a talent for interior decorating and made her house a home. Neta earned the certification of Texas Master Gardener and was an exceptional landscape gardener. She was active in the Fort Bend Republican Women's Club and was named "2003 Woman of the Year." She was an avid reader and bridge player and enjoyed traveling, especially to Hawaii and Las Vegas where she and Dwight frequently visited. Neta was a very vivacious and outgoing person who enjoyed the company of her many friends and neighbors. She will always be remembered for her positive outlook on life, keen sense of humor, and wonderful compassion and kindness toward others.
Neta was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Joel Wayne Dial and her beloved pet, a Miniature Schnauzer named Schatzie. She is survived by her loving husband of 26 years, Dwight, her stepson David Recht and his wife, Jessica, and their children Jonathan and Catherine. She also leaves behind her cousins, Jeanie Cox and Virgie Peek, her nephew, Stephen Dial, her niece, Melanie Dial Scroggins and her two beloved Miniature Schnauzers, Misty and Chipper. She will be forever missed by her immediate and extended family and her longtime friends and neighbors.
Neta is profoundly grateful to the family of Angel Benavides for the beautiful lungs she received in August 2008 which enabled her to have a wonderful quality of life for the next seven years. Without their generous gift of life, her life would not have been as enjoyable and certainly much shorter.
