Nicholas Manning Obituary

Nicholas Manning
09/10/1987 - 07/12/2024
Nicholas Tengg Manning passed away on July 12, 2024. Born on September 10, 1987, to parents Maureen and Jay Manning, Nic was a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, fiercely loyal to those close to him. Nic grew up in Houston, attended Memorial High School, and spent many Christmas Eve's having family lunches at the now-gone but not forgotten, Bellaire Broiler Burger. After graduating from Memorial in 2006, Nic attended Texas Christian University. While at T.C.U., Nic became a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity, graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. in Finance, and pursued a career in the oil and gas industry, most recently spending seven years as a gas trader for Vega Energy.
Even after graduating, Nic was a true Horned Frog for life and could be found cheering T.C.U. on in football, baseball, basketball, you name it. If the Frogs weren't playing, Nic would tune into the Astros, Texans Football, Houston Rockets, F1 and N.A.S.C.A.R., golf, and tennis; he was a sports enthusiast through and through. He never missed a major sporting event on T.V. Nic also loved to hunt, fish, play golf, and possessed a longtime love of music, always telling his parents, "You grew up in the greatest music generation ever!" Nic was sharp and provided a wealth of knowledge to those around him. He loved his German cars. He could count cards, was known to occasionally troll others, and kept the room entertained with his keen wit. He couldn't wait to instill this knowledge in his niece and nephews, spending time with his oldest niece, Adeline, excitedly trying to teach her how to tell time and learn the multiplication tables-even if she was just four years old at the time. Nic had a big heart and fiercely showed up for those he loved.
Nicholas was preceded in death by his grandparents, Barbara and Carsey Manning, Bonnie and Bill Roche. He is survived by his parents, Maureen and Jay Manning; his brother, Carsey Manning; his sisters, Kathleen Ivie (husband, Stan) and Allie Manning (fiancé, Adam Tamplain); and several nieces and nephews.
Nic will be missed by many friends and family. As Nic always said when he would leave his parents' house: "Love you...BYE!"
A memorial Mass will be held on Friday, July 19, at 2:00 p.m., at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Washington, located at 7809 Shadyvilla Ln., Houston, Texas 77055. A private reception for friends and family will follow.

Dear Jay and Maureen,

I wanted to express my deepest condolences to you and your family. I am truly saddened to hear about Nic's passing.

I regret that I couldn't make the trip to Houston despite my efforts to connect my flight there. I will always remember Nic as the first one to welcome me to Hunters Creek Elementary when I was the new kid in 4th grade. He quickly became one of my closest childhood friends.

The memories of our laughs together, our hunting trips, and our month-long adventures at Camp La Junta every summer will forever be cherished.

I am praying for all of the Manning family during this difficult time. Thank you for everything, Jay and Maureen. Once again, I am so sorry I couldn't be there with you all.

With heartfelt sympathy,
Austin

Dear family,

I´m so sorry for your loss. I am praying for you all. May God give you comfort during this very difficult time. Please know that your loved one is safe in God´s memory (Proverbs 14:14,15). Just as God brought his son Jesus Christ back to life, he will do the same for your loved one as he has promised.
