Patricia Kenneally Obituary

PATRICIA STEELE KENNEALLY died peacefully February 2, 2006, with her family by her side. In life, Patricia was committed to the comfort and care of others, especially those facing death. In her own dying process, she was just as gracious in allowing her friends and family to gather by her side in loving presence. She was known as a wonderful friend and a great raconteur. Patricia's ability to bring enthusiasm and smiles to any gathering with her infectious laughter and grand style will be missed by many. Patricia was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1927. She graduated New Trier High School and Northwestern University. She moved to Houston in 1959 where she quickly fell in love with the people of Houston and saw it as a wonderful place to raise a family. She is survived by her children, daughter Jane Galvin, her husband Mark and their children Aisling, Alexandra, Georgia and Pierce; her son, Tom; son Tiffen, his wife Kristen and their children Anna and Dominic; son Stephen, his wife Elisabeth and their children Ian and Nicholas; son Matthew, his wife Lauren, and their children Griffen and Graham; and son Michael, his wife Jacqueline and their children Liam, Sean and Ryan. She also leaves behind her sister, Constance Evans; her brother, Leonard Edward "Ted" Steele; many dear nephews, nieces, cousins and dear friends, as well as her beloved caretakers, Griselda Garcia, Sulanita Garcia and Reyna Myers. Patricia was preceded in death by her mother Constance Steele Linden and her mother's husband, Frank Linden, and her father, Leonard Edward Steele. Pallbearers are her sons, Tom Kenneally, Tiffen Kenneally, Stephen Kenneally, Matthew Kenneally and Michael Kenneally. Honorary pallbearers are William Bell, George O'Leary, Ted Steele, Henry J.N. "Kitch" Taub and Dr. Lee Tuttle. A rosary will be held on Sunday, February 5, 2006 at two o'clock in the afternoon with visitation immediately following until five o'clock at Bradshaw-Carter Home, 1734 West Alabama, Houston, Texas. A mass celebrating the life of Patricia will be held Monday, February 6, 2006, at ten o'clock in the morning at St. Anne Catholic Church, 2140 Westheimer, Houston, Texas 77098 with Father Thomas B. Mailloux, C.S.B. officiating. The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks and appreciation to the staff of Houston Hospice for their kindness, compassion and care. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Houston Hospice, 8811 Gaylord Street, Suite 100, Houston, Texas 77024; St. Anne Catholic Church, 2140 Westheimer, Houston, Texas 77098; or the charity of your choice. Dear Kenneallys,

Your home and family growing up was always where everyone wanted to be. Your house pulsed with chaos, with fun, with people, with life. And I remember your mother as the architypical matriarch who presided somehow unperterbed over the scene. I echo John Dennis' sentiments that she seemed to have care and concern for all of us miscreants, however undeserved. Her passing is a great sadness and our hearts go out to you and yours.

Dear Tom, Tiffin, Stephen, Jane, Matthew, and Michael,

Tracy and I regret the loss of your mother this past week. She was a strong-willed woman who looked after your friends as if we were yet more of her own children. We are fortunate to have known her and benefitted from her warmth, kindness, strength and wisdom. Our thoughts are with all of you at this time, and we hope to be a support to each of you into the future to honor what your mother did for us.

Yours, Tracy, John and the Woodson/Dennis Family.
