Peter Ebeling Obituary

PETER LOUIS EBELING, SR., a loving husband, father and friend went to be with his Lord on May 20, 2009. Peter firmly believed in God's love for us. Peter was born on December 28, 1913, to Anastacia Palassie and David Walter Ebeling, in New Orleans, Louisiana. For over 50 years he was a barber and his shop was known for the "latest St. Claude news". He also worked a second job for over 20 years as a Louisiana State Deputy Fire Marshall. Peter is preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Ruth Genevieve Boydell and his son, Peter Louis Ebeling, Jr. He is survived by his daughter, Linda Ruth Ebeling, a brother, Bruce Ebeling and sisters-in-law, Sue Ebeling, Gerry Ebeling, Louise Dering and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Dr. John Kirk and Dr. Jim Walkup for the excellent care he received. A special thanks to his friends and staff at St. Dominic Village for making his last years most enjoyable. He called it "the Palace". On Thursday, May 28, 2009, a Rosary will be recited at 1:30 p.m., followed at 2:00 p.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial in the Warren Chapel of St. Dominic Village, 2401 East Holcombe Blvd., Houston, Texas.

I remember you so fondly. My mother worked for the register department. She Introduced me to you when I was 17. She said that your were fun and she asked me "would you like to meet my friend"
And I said yes!!! We bonded instantly. I miss our chats and I miss your beautiful art. I miss our conversations. But most of all you. I´m 37 now and I pray that you are where you loved and believed the most, with God. Rest peacefully my friend, until we meet again.

Linda Ruth,

It was an honor and pleasure to be allowed into Pete's life. His many 'bon mots' about the New Orleans of yore were as priceless as he as well as his GRANDPA Moses painting abilities. Know you are in my thoughts and prayers. If you need me you know where to find me.

Linda,

I am sorry to hear about about the passing Of Mr. Pete. My sympathy goes to you and your family during this time.

Definitely will never forget the times that our parents, my sister Betsy, and myself would spending together at your parent's house on Stephen Giraud. Mr. Pete and Ms. Ruth would always make us feel welcome when we were kids, and who would ever forget Senator (your parent's dog)? Never forget the piano and all of the entertaining things that Mr Pete and Ms Ruth would do during our visits with them.

My email address is [email protected] in case you ever would like to keep in touch with "your little boyfriend", and will keep Mr Pete in my prayers.

"Mr. Pete" as he was commonly known was one of the nicest people you could ever meet. His friendship at St. Dominic Village was a treasure. He loved to paint in the art room and was simply a joy to know. He was a great story teller too! He will be greatly missed. Love ya, Mr. Pete. A friend in Houston.
