Peyton Waters Obituary

Peyton Donald Waters, Jr.
06/08/1953 - 10/25/2025
Peyton Donald Waters, Jr. passed away on Saturday, the 25th of October 2025 in Houston, Texas at the age of 72. He was born on the 8th of June 1953 in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Geneva Dufour Waters and Peyton Donald Waters, Sr.
The family moved from New Orleans to Houston in 1962. Peyton was graduated from St. Thomas High School in 1971. During his senior year of high school, he met his life partner, Karen Kennedy, at a high school dance. He later shared that he took one look at Karen that evening and knew he was going to marry her.
Peyton attended St. Edward's University and graduated in 1974 with a Bachelor of Business Administration. Following his university graduation, he attended St. Mary's School of Law, obtaining his Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1977. He and Karen married in July of 1976.
Peyton became a lawyer with the intention of supporting the success of Waters International, Inc., an oil drilling equipment business founded by his father. He and his beloved father ran Waters International together for many years until Peyton assumed the role of President.
Peyton's talents of being astute, having a high aptitude for machinery, a friendly demeanor and being a man of utmost integrity lead the business to many successes. Peyton was a gentleman and a man of his word. Nothing pleased him more than to help others. He could fix anything from a broken water pipe to an automobile and everything in between. Often, he would be the first person called by friends and family in a time of crisis and would arrive ready and willing to assist in solving any problems.
Peyton served on the Board of Directors for St. Thomas High School, St. Agnes Academy and the Forbes Park, Colorado Landowner's Association. For many years, he organized the Texas Oilman's Charity Invitational Fishing Tournament.
Peyton was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents. Peyton is survived by his devoted wife of forty-nine years, Karen Kennedy Waters; his children, Audrey Waters Loweth and her husband Justin Isensee Loweth, and Peyton Donald Waters, III; his grandchildren, Charlotte Blair Loweth, Bannon William Loweth, Griffin Waters Loweth and Peyton Donald Waters, IV. He is also survived by his siblings; Donna Waters Harris and her husband Joseph Denton Harris, IV, M.D., William Joseph Waters, M.D. and Elizabeth Waters Paterson and her husband Alan Gerard Paterson, and his cherished nieces and their families.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family on Friday, the 7th of November from five o'clock in the afternoon until eight o'clock in the evening in the grand foyer and Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston, where a recitation of the Holy Rosary is to commence at seven o'clock.
A Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of Peyton's life is to be offered on Saturday, the 8th of November at nine o'clock in the morning at St. Anne Catholic Church, 2140 Westheimer Road in Houston.
(Kindly Note: Parking for the funeral mass will be located in the St. Anne Catholic Church parking garage, which may be accessed off Westheimer Road and Kingston Drive.)
Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception at a venue to be announced at the service. The family will gather for a private burial at Memorial Oaks Cemetery in Houston.

Dear Karen,

I am so sorry for your loss. Peyton was such a great help to me when I was the cub scout den mother for my Brian and your Peyton. He kindly put up our tent and scouting family campouts. I currently live in Richmond, Virginia which will prevent me from attending the memorial services. You and your family will continue to remain in my thoughts and prayers. May his memory be a blessing.
