Sharon,
May God bless you & the family at this time.
A former classmate, friend, & neighbor of years ago, I am thankful to have had fellowship with you & Phil in happier times.
Heaven's skies are fuller today as the wonderful spirit of Phillip joins the angels there.
Colossians:Chapter 2 vs 5 & 6 may be a comfort to you.

Phil will always hold a special place in my memories. Somehow, he managed to teach me to fly a glider when I was a silly little 15-year-old who didn't even know how to drive a car. In doing so, he showed me that I could accomplish anything I set my mind to. Thank you, Phil, for giving me some of the confidence I have today. I hope you're in Heaven right now with Tom Haywood, Phil Purdy, and Terry Nielson, taking advantage of what, no doubt, are phenomenal soaring conditions.

Phil:
Your absolute love of soaring and flight was amazing...you were such a great pilot and craved for those you taught to love and respect the sport just as much. Because of you, the GHSA has become a huge success, produced many good pilots, intoduced the sport of soaring to hundreds and the devotion, ambition and drive to make all your students the best possible pilot was always your priority. Although there were times it may not have seemed so, you always had the student's success in learning to fly, and fly well, as the only acceptable goal. We had many flights together, a few scarey ones (for me), but mostly wonderful, and I will always treasure the flight we made during contest many years ago; it was a fabulous experience, thank you! May you soar among the eagles now, where you belong.
