Porfirio F. Diaz Jr. passed away peacefully at home on October 30, 2023 surrounded by family.
Preceded in death by his father Porfirio Fernandez Diaz, Sr. and mother Martha Velasquez Diaz.
He grew up in Houston's historic Sixth Ward neighborhood, attended John H. Reagan Sr High School. Porfirio graduated from Texas A&M University, Fighting Texas Aggie Class of 1969, and was a proud member of the Corp of Cadets Unit G-1. He accepted a commission in the US Army in 1969. Porfirio received his Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1979 from South Texas College of Law. He served as judge in Houston Municipal courts, appointed by Mayor Kathy Whitemire. He practiced law in Harris County for 43 years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years Honora E. Diaz and three children Orianna Diaz, Porfirio F. X. Diaz, Ariel Diaz and husband Michael Armstrong; grandchildren Walker and Cade Armstrong; in addition his sisters Dolores Sorola, Carolyn Musslewhite, Patricia Garza, and Kathryn Diaz Garcia.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, November 17, 2023 at All Saints Catholic Church in the Heights at 10AM with a rosary preceding at 9:30AM.

Nora,
I just found this notice and I am heartbroken for you & kids. Poppy was a great guy and I regret not having spent more time with him. I remember how happy I was when I learned of your marriage and fondly recall the time you came to Uvalde to visit. Poppy was a giant personality that will long be remembered. May God bless you and help you in your grief.
