Robert Battle Obituary
1933-2021
Dr. Robert McRee Battle passed away peacefully in West Houston on Thursday, the 17th of June, 2021. He was 87 years old.
He is survived by his life partner, Cecilia, his siblings, Nancy Battle and Jeff Battle (Jackie); his children, Amelia Lantz (Jim), Brian Battle (Corinne), Mara De Luan (Jean), Barry Battle (Heidi) and Brad Battle (Tina). He was 'Poppy' to 17 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by Burton McRee Battle (father), Agnes Frances Walker Battle (mother) and Burton Edward Battle (son).
Bob was born on July 23, 1933 in Marshall, Texas. He served this great country on a tour of duty in Germany during the Korean War. Upon return, Bob went on to finish his undergraduate studies at Rice University in Houston. He completed his MD at University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston.
Bob was very passionate about his patients and helping them improve their health so he spent much of his spare time researching, studying, learning new methods and techniques to cure his patients. Outside of medicine, Bob enjoyed being outdoors, his gardens, bird watching and deepening his Catholic faith. Bob was always lively and if you met him, you would have known it as he was fully engaged in all his interactions. He will be greatly missed.
A memorial service for Bob is scheduled on Tuesday (6/22) at 10:30AM at St. John Vianney Catholic Church (625 Nottingham Oaks Trail, Houston, TX 77079) followed by graveside burial ceremony at 1:30 PM at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery (7801 Gulf Fwy, Dickinson, TX 77539). Funeral services provided by Beresford Funeral.

I just found out today, February 15, 2022, that Dr. Battle had passed away last year. I'm shocked, and saddened. He was one of the most amazing people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing, a true medical iconoclast, and an inspiration. God rest his soul.
