Robert Bauerle Obituary

Robert James Bauerle, loving husband, father and friend, passed away May 15,2006. Bob was the son of Harry T. Bauerle and Grace Mallon, who preceded him in death. Bob was born March 6,1947 in Philadelphia, PA. A natural affinity for swimming earned him a full scholarship to La Salle University, followed by an MBA at Tulane University, which resulted in a life-long career in international finance. At the time of his death, Bob served as CFO and SVP for the American Bureau of Shipping in Houston, Texas. Bob was an accomplished swimmer and his performance at the Olympic trials qualified him as an alternate in the 1972 Olympics. His love of swimming led to a natural love of the beach. He and his family spent many vacations traveling the world and soaking up exotic island settings. As accomplished scuba divers, they enjoyed diving in some of the world's finest waters. Another passion was golf. Bob spent wonderful days with his friends at Champions Golf Club, and enjoyed many junkets to world-class golf courses throughout his travels. Bob is survived by Nanci, his loving wife of 21 years. His son Ryan and daughter Lauren were the lights of his life. Bob is also survived by his brothers Harry "Ted" Bauerle and John "Jack" Randall Bauerle, both residing in Georgia. Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Friday, May 19th at St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Community, 7810 Cypresswood Drive. For those wishing to do so, donations may be made in Bob's name to the American Heart Association, 1700 Rutherford Lane, P.O.Box 15186, Austin,Texas 78761.

Nanci, Ryan and Lauren,
I went to Camp Chikopi swim camp the summer of 1962. The camp was going to have a 100 year reunion this summer until the pandemic hit. I have been trying to fiind several fellow campers to see if they would join me at the reunion. Today I just discovered Bob's obit and was sad to learn of his passing. He and I were in the same cabin and became good friends that summer. He was a fun and irreverent guy and a much more sophisticated person than I was coming from small town Ohio. We shared a good senser of humor and helped each other get into the swing of things at camp. Your husband/dad was a great young man whom I remember fondly.

Mrs. Nanci Bauerle

Dear Nanci, Ryan, Lauren, and members of the Bauerle family:

I was saddened to learn of the death of you dear husband and my high school classmate, Robert Bauerle. At times such as these, words are unable to carry the full message of comfort and consolation which we want them to bear, but they are all we have. Having experienced the death of my father in 1995, I am aware of the deep emotions which accompany such a loss. Be sure of continued remembrance of him in my prayers and those of all the Brothers here at Lewis.

May the Lord continue to hold you and all your family in the hollow of his hand and may you find his comforting presence in the silent power of prayer, in the wisdom of the Scripture, the nourishment of the Eucharist, the beauty of the liturgy, and in all his holy people gathered round us to help us.

I join my voice to the ancient hymn of the early Church:

May the angels lead him into Paradise.

May the martyrs come and welcome him on his way

And lead him into the holy city, Jerusalem.

May the choirs of angels welcome him.

And with Lazarus, who once was poor,

May he have everlasting life. Amen.

I close with the traditional prayer which we Brothers have prayed for over three hundred years:

Live Jesus in our hearts--Forever.

With sympathy and promise of prayers, Your Brother,

Rick Curtiss

Nanci, Ryan and Lauren,

Although we have not met, my thoughts and prayers are with you all. I only knew Bob a short time yet I was deeply shocked and saddened to learn the news of his passing. I always enjoyed the conversations he and I had about golf, politics and the economy as well as about our families. He spoke so proudly of you all. It meant so much to me that he called to check on me when I was going through my chemotherapy treatments and I was really looking forward to playing golf with him after the treatments were finally over. My thoughts and prayers go out to you on your loss.

Dearest Nanci & Family,

We just heard - we are so very, very sorry for the loss of your husband, father and best friend. Our words at this time are utterly useless and fail to convey the depth of our condolences for you and your family. Again, we are so sorry - please know that you, your family and your beloved Robert are in our thoughts and prayers. Remember you have friends and we are here if you need us.

With Love,

Nanci, Ryan, and Lauren I am deeply sorry for your loss.

Bob was the type of boss who was fair, kind, and generous,

he had a lot of patience, and never forgot to give someone a pat

on the back for a job well done.

He will be sincerely missed. Our candy dish is truly empty

without him and cannot be refilled.

I will miss him.

Nanci- Please accept my condolences on your loss of Bob. We enjoyed sharing time with the two of you at my brother Mike's. You and Bob were there for the McCorkle family when my father passed away. My brother Mike will miss his golf partner. I know that Bob has found a great golf course in the sky from which he can watch you and the kids.

Nanci, our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Peter and I remember great stories from "Big Joe". He always enjoyed the game of golf at Champions when he and Mike played or in my dad's "golden years" got to ride along.

Peace be with you. Our love goes out to all of you.

We are so sorry for your loss.
