I remember the first day I met Robert. A smile on his face which seemed to calm me. I was a teenager trying to improve at chess and he kindly shared valuable knowledge with me as I know he did others. Robert was as Genuine as they come. I was very fortunate to have met him in person at the Houston Chess Club. Robert always had a kind heart and gentle soul. I miss you my friend and always will. Thank you for everything you did for me. I will see you again and we will laugh and smile once again!

Growing up in Houston as I did, I fondly recall hours-long conversation with Robert, who was my elder and fellow chessplayer. I was just a kid and could only begin to sense what a rare, kind spirit Robert was. Oh how we could while away the hours. Now, 40-some odd years later, it's hard to recall a finer gentleman from my childhood who was always looking out for me and who always brightened my day. Still miss you, Robert.

Robert loved his ballroom dancing and he was a very fine dancer. He was a great, great help to the Houston Chapter of USA Dance (formerly USABDA Houston) in the 1990's. Rest in Peace, Robert. We will miss you.
