Robert Ferstl Obituary

ROBERT ANTHONY FERSTL, age 62, passed away on July 7, 2005, following a courageous battle with cancer. Successful in every endeavor, Bob was the quintessential businessman, previously owning multiple car dealerships and serving on the Board of Directors of First Community Bank. His four-decade long membership in the Sports Car Club of America likewise reflects his competitive nature, and Bob's talent on both club and professional racing circuits has filled his home with countless trophies and awards. Although a world traveler and boundless adventurer, Bob's greatest achievement is his devotion to the Catholic faith that guided him through a 42-year marriage to his devoted wife Barbara. Their faith is the cornerstone of their loving family: son Robbie (wife Michelle, daughters Autumn and Ashley), son Chris (wife Tracey, sons Parker and Carson), daughter Melissa, and son Brent (wife Jessica). Bob is also survived by his sister Judy Ware and husband Bob, brother Jimmy and wife Marilyn, sister Barbara Knott, numerous nieces and nephews, and countless friends. While his family and friends will mourn the loss of beloved Bob, they rejoice in knowing they will someday reunite with him for eternity. The family will receive visitors at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home, 311 N. Friendswood Drive, Friendswood, Texas, on Sunday, July 10, 2005 from 5-8 in the evening, with a scripture vigil and the recitation of the Rosary at 7 P.M. The Funeral Mass will take place at Mary Queen Catholic Church, 606 Cedarwood, Friendswood, Texas at 10 A.M. on Monday, July 11, 2005 with Father Phil "Skip" Negley, M.S. officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery in Dickinson, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Bob's name to M. D. Anderson Cancer Center, Department of Molecular Hematology and Therapy, in care of 1219 Van Buren, Houston TX 77019 or to M. D. Anderson Cancer Center, Department of Neuro-Oncology Brain and Spine Research, P.O. Box 4486, Houston TX 77210. Like the Apostle Paul, Bob has fought the good fight. He has finished the race. He has kept the faith.
