Robert Grysinski Obituary

Robert S. Grysinski Bob Grysinski passed away on July 15, 2014 after 93 years. Born in Chicago, but spent the last half of his life in Texas. He was a combat-decorated World War II veteran, serving on the USS Card and the USS Ticonderoga.
As a master electrician, Bob could fix anything around the house. He retired from the Port of Houston Authority in 1986.
He loved cooking and hosted all of the family holiday feasts at his home. A gruff countenance and ever-present cigar masked a tireless sense of humor which gave his friends and family constant enjoyment.
Bob was a devoted member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church; cooking for fund-raisers or donating model ships or cars that he had built. He traveled to numerous Ticonderoga reunions around the US. And, he always looked forward to the monthly luncheon of the local Veterans of CBI group. His service is memorialized in the National Museum of the Pacific War in Fredericksburg, TX.
Bob lost his beloved wife, Fran, in 1989 after 44 joyful years of marriage. He continued to live in their home in Pecan Grove until two months before his death. His daughter, Gerry, also preceded him, dying in 2003.
Bob was blessed with loving children and grandchildren. He is survived by his sons: Robert Grysinski, and his wife Deborah; Stanley Grysinski and his wife Alison; and his daughter Valerie Walden and husband Kirk. He was especially close to his grandchildren: Sarah, Emma, Ryan and Michael. Bob is also survived by two brothers, Raymond and Frank Grysinski.
Bob had unflagging generosity and appreciation of life.
On Saturday, August 9, a mass will be held in his honor at 10:00 am at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Richmond, TX, followed by a grave-side military service at Morton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to a veteran's organization.
