Robert J. Mitchell
1942-2021
Robert J Mitchell, 79, died quietly on September 26, 2021 at his home in League City, TX with his wife and surrounded by his beloved dogs following a long illness. Bob was born September 21, 1942 in Houlton, ME to Victor & Marjorie Mitchell. He was a graduate of Deering High School and The University of Maine. Taught early on by his Dad, he developed his passion for golf as a caddy at the Portland Country Club and that passion lasted a lifetime. As a child Bob and his younger brother Rick spent many an idyllic summer In Greenville ME swimming, fishing and playing cribbage with their beloved grandfather "Gramp". Bob was a social guy with a quick laugh and a ready smile who always enjoyed a cold beer at the 19th hole with his buddies.
Bob worked briefly after graduation in insurance, then relocated to Houston where he worked for many years for Lockheed Aircraft at the Houston Space Center. He then worked in IT at Baylor College of Medicine before retiring in 2016.
Bob was predeceased by his parents Victor and Marjorie Mitchell. Bob is survived by his wife of 34 years, Suzanne, sons Michael of Plano TX & Donald of Katy TX from a previous marriage, brother Rick and sister-in-law Carol of Worcester, MA, special cousin Roger of NYC, former wife Marilyn Kay of Houston and a number of grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
An internment service is planned for early summer at the Greenville, ME cemetery.
