We were so sad to hear of Robert's passing. Since we live in NJ, we hadn't seen Robert for many years. At Tom and Michelle's wedding, we had the opportunity be become reacquainted. We so enjoyed visiting with him and Anne that day. Afterwards we corresponded via e-mail and regular mail. We were both interested in genealogy and shared some family tree information. He also sent me a very interesting letter along with pictures from one of his recent trips. He had a great sense of humor and was really a terrific guy! Our thoughts and prayers go out to Marie, Wendy, Bil, Anne. and your entire family.

With love, Faith & Doug Hoek

Marie and Family,

You have been in my thoughts and prayers from the moment I heard that Robert was so ill. We know that he is in a better place, but he will be missed by all who knew him. I will always remember his handsome face with that radiant smile. We had a wonderful visit with him and Anne at Tom's wedding in Virginia, it was really a family reunion for many of us.

You will continue to be in my prayers. Love to all, Nancy

I will always remember Bob with a smile on his face, I don't think I ever saw him when he did not have one! And he must have an even larger one now in the presence of God!

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

Dear Marie,

I worked with Bob for several years until his retirement from Exxon. He had a wonderful, lively personality, and always had something interesting or funny to say. He was the best instructor I ever had, and a favorite among his colleagues.

Please accept my deepest sympathy.

I met Bob at work several years ago. His trademarks were his voice, his smile and his contagious laughter.

He was a wonderful instructor. His sense of humor put you at ease and so that without much pain or effort you found yourself learning and working while also having fun.

I am very sorry about Bob passing away. I wish I could hear his booming voice and laughter again.

Bob was one of my favorite people at Exxon. He was greatly missed when he retired and we didn't see his sunny face every day anymore. I, for one, will always remember him and the lessons that he taught me.

My heart and prayers go out to all of Bob's family. It is with great sadness to hear of Bob's passing. I had the privilege of working closely with Bob over the years. It was a wonderful and memorable experience to hear Bob's loud and hearty voice and wonderful laugh. It was infectious and left everyone much the better. Moods and outlooks were brigthened, and everyone was left anxiously awaiting Bob's next story. He made work and learning enjoyable. And everyone around him quickly called him "friend". I have spent the last few weeks thinking of Bob and many of those stories. He will truly be missed by many friends.

I was terrible sorry to hear of your loss. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. I was fortunate enough to work with Bob on several occasions and his candor, wisdom, genuine enthusiasm and obvious pleasure at sharing his knowledge impressed me at the time and continues to influence me today. He will truly be missed.

Bob is a wonderful guy. Always quick with a smile, a hearty chuckle, and a presence that always brightened up a room. I worked with Bob for many years at Exxon. He was known by many as one of the best instructors that we had. He won many Outstanding Instructor awards from our research company. I had the honor of traveling with Bob in 1997 to London, France, and Norway teaching seismic modeling. I have fond memories of that trip. We worked together on several projects over the years and I was always impressed with his insight, intelligence, and integrity. Bob is a great instructor, mentor, but most of all, friend. I will truly miss him.

As a fellow co-worker of Bob's, I'll always remember his passion for learning and sharing knowledge with others. As a friend and neighbor, I'll always remember his big smile, his wave, and his booming hello as he greeted you on the greenbelt at Deerfield.

The photo gallery illustrates the preciousness of our memories of those we've loved and grown with. My memories of Bob will always be of fun, the love of animals, much laughter and sarcastic commentary on the oddities of life. Marie and children, my wish for you is that the day comes you soon when your memories of Bob bring you more smiles than tears.

Although I didn't know Bob Nugent, I know that he leaves behind a living legacy in the form of his precious grandson, Gabriel. I know that his daughter, Anne, will cherish his memory and be diligent that her little son will come to know his grandfather's heart and mind. That's the best that any of us can hope for in this life. My sympathy goes out to his family. I'm very sorry for your loss.
