Robert Westphal Obituary
ROBERT GEORGE WESTPHAL, 64, was born and raised in Racine, Wisconsin and spent the last 24 years of his life in Houston, TX where he and his wife, Della, owned and operated Fast Freight Services of Texas, Inc. a LTL trucking company. He was born to Anne Elizabeth (nee Mainus) and George Gustav Westphal on January 24, 1941 and passed on to his eternal rest July 6, 2005. He is preceded in death by both parents; 2 nieces, Christine and Cherie and brother-in-law, Robert Gotthardt. Robert was a loving husband and is survived by his wife who will miss him very much, Delia Westphal; son, Brian of Houston, TX; step-son, Larry Hargraves of Sugarland, TX; one grandson, Christopher Hargraves of Tomball, TX; granddaughter, Rory of Haukenheim, Germany; sister, Georgianna (Westphal) Gotthardt of Racine, WI; niece, Cathie (Chris) Barton and 5 great-nieces and nephews, Eric, Christopher, Michelle, Joseph and Elise, all of Racine, WI. Robert was a proud member of Christ the Redeemer Catholic Community where he served as a lector, choir member, Eucharistic Minister of Holy Communion, and member of the (Classics). He was also a proud member of the Knights of Columbus for over 25 years and spent 15 of those years as a 4th Degree. He was elected Grand Knight of Council No. 7136 and served for 4 years in that position. He was appointed District Deputy for the 83rd District and was very proud of being awarded Star District for 2001 and 2002. Robert's love of music and singing were expressed proudly by his participation in the church choir and, singing with the Statesmen Barbershop Chorus of Houston and the Men of Leisure Barbershop singers. He was honored to sing in 4 international competitions with the Racine Dairy Statesmen of Wisconsin, taking 1st place, before moving toTexas. Besides his joy of music, his hobbies included golf and pool, where he won many trophies. The Family cordially invites Mr. Westphal's friends to a Visitation from 6:00 - 8:00 PM with a Rosary Service at 7:00 PM, Friday, July 8, 2005 at Cypress-Fairbanks Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church, Saturday, July 9, 2005 at 12 Noon with Reverend Sean Horrigan, Celebrant. Rite of Committal will be held later this week at Holy Cross Cemetery in Racine, WI. Maresh-Meredith-Acklam Funeral Home to handle the local services in Racine (262-634-7888).
