I worked with Roger in Logistics at UTMB and we became good friends and colleagues.
I found Roger to be a quiet, kind and generous man, tolerant of all people. He also had a razor sharp wit and loved to talk about camping trips with his family members, sailing and about life in general.
He was a man with a sense of duty and always insisted upon doing the right thing.
Sometimes I would look at Roger and he would be happy and full of joy when I was not.
I found that the more I acted like Roger the happier I was.
People like me need people like Roger; in fact, the whole world could use more Rogers, humble, considerate, kind…
The world we live in often mistakes kindness for weakness.
They could not be more inaccurate in Roger’s case.
It takes the strongest and most courageous of men to lay down his life for another man’s life.
Yes, the world needs more Rogers.
I am a better man for having known Roger Stone.
He will be missed.
May the peace of God which surpasses all human understanding grant Linda, Eric, and Elizabeth and all of Roger's family and friends His everlasting peace.

I did not know Roger but I know that he is a person that I would have liked to have known. As a person that truly loves sailing as well, I can only admire his dedication to maintain the safety of their crew.
Thank you Roger, you leave many behind who honor you.

To the Stone family, I am so terribly sorry for your loss. I spent 4 1/2 years at TAMUG, and though I did not personally know him, he was an Aggie, and therefore a great man! He will be greatly missed and my prayers are with you! Gig 'em!

Roger was a great co-worker and vanpool driver. He and I had many an opportunity to share thoughts and stories driving to and from work on the van each day. His patience, kindness, smile, wit, and humor, will be missed. My thoughts and sincerest prayers go out to his wife and children during their time of grief and mourning.

I have known Roger for about four years. He and I always talked a lot at work. His stories always seemed to make the day go by quicker and easier. We would talk about cycling, and just about anything else. He had invited me and my son to come out sailing several times, and I just never did. I wish now, I wouldn’t have waited to take him up on his offer.
I had just received a get well card from my co-workers last Friday, in regards to one of my sons. Roger had signed it and wrote a message to my son. My family will never forget that.
I could always reminisce about an old comedy movie, especially anything with Monty Python. He will be missed. When I pass by his office, there will always be a smile in my heart for his stories.

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."

I met Roger and camped with him and Elizabeth with the Indian Princesses. He was a wonderful guy with a great sense of humor and he will really be missed. I'll always have fond memories of the campouts and campfire conversations and I’m very happy he gave me his salsa recipe. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Crossing the Bar
Sunset and evening star,
And one clear call for me!
And may there be no moaning of the bar,
When I put out to sea,
But such a tide as moving seems asleep,
Too full for sound and foam,
When that which drew from out the boundless deep
Turns again home.
Twilight and evening bell,
And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell,
When I embark;
For tho' from out our bourne of Time and Place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have crost the bar.

I didn't know Roger that well however; the few years I did know him while in Indian Princess it was nothing but a pleasure. It felt like I'd known him a long time. What you see is what you got with Roger.
Easy going, funny and totally interested in making sure his daughter had a good time and experience while camping.
He sure will be missed.

I used to ride the van with Roger for about 6 years and was his back up driver. I know Roger loved sailing because my boss would always talk about sailing and many times I tried to convience Roger not to go with him. We became good friends over the years of riding together. I will miss Roger he was a wonderful man
