Roger Uecker Obituary

ROGER LOUIS UECKER, 72, formerly of Houston, TX, passed away on October 31, 2006. Roger was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana on April 4, 1934 to Adolph and Nellie Uecker. He was a devout Catholic with a wry sense of humor and a great mind. Roger completed 16 years of Catholic school and exited as valedictorian of St. Joseph's College. He went on to serve his country proudly as a United States Naval Officer. Roger completed his Masters in Economics while helping raise five small children. He had a long and productive career spanning 3 decades and participated in the genesis of the computer age. He began his career as a programmer at Lincoln Life in Ft. Wayne, IN and finished it as V.P. of data processing at Cravens Dargen in Houston, TX. He was extremely proud of his five children and their accomplishments which gave him great satisfaction. Roger is preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth (Betty) Uecker and his sister, Alice Gatton. Roger is survived by his son, David Uecker of Jackson, MS; daughter, Theresa Uecker Mare of Portland, OR; son, Joe Uecker of Lexington, KY; son, Dr. John Uecker, M.D. of Austin, TX; son, Steve Uecker of Austin, TX; and brother, Richard Uecker of Ft. Wayne, IN. The family will receive friends in the Davis Chapel of Cook-Walden Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 PM with recitation of the Holy Rosary to begin at 7:00 PM, Thursday, November 2, 2006. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, November 3, 2006 at 10:00 AM at Queen of Angels Catholic Church, Spicewood, TX. Interment will follow on Monday, November 6, 2006 at 1:00 PM at The Houston National Cemetery in Houston, TX.
