Ronald Booker Obituary

Reverend Ronald Booker Sr.
10/04/1965 - 01/05/2023
Rev. Ronald Booker, Sr., affectionately known as "Pastor Ronnie", is the oldest of three children born to the late Dr. Gusta Booker, Jr. and the late Mrs. Theola Booker on October 5, 1965 in Houston, Texas. In 1984, he was united in holy matrimony to his highschool sweetheart Valree Lomax. To this union two children were born, Ronald, II and Joshua.
In the past 30 years, Pastor Ronnie embraced the role of Servant Leader. He served as an elected Village Representative of the Sienna community, Missouri City, TX and as a Community Service Representative for the United Way. He was also a founding member of GSM Uplift. He was also in the process of establishing yet another community help organization, The Lighthouse.
As the Pastor of Greater St. Matthew Church (one church, two locations), he also had other attributes. His affiliations include 2006 sponsor of the T. J. Ford Foundation, past union representative while employed over 10 years at United Parcel Service, a member of the National Baptist Convention of America. He was also co-owner of SPAN, Inc., a home care services and medical supplies company and Vice President of Seasoned Citizen Assisted Living Homes, which provides senior citizens with safe and affordable housing. His love for people extended from children to the senior citizens, in and out of his pastoral profession.
In the community he developed many new relationships and partnerships that ministered to those in need.
Pastor Ronald E. Booker, Sr. leaves to cherish his memories and legacy: his beautiful, loving and devoted wife, Valree, his wonderful sons Ronald, II (Kita) and Joshua; adorable grandchildren, Xavier, Mahloni, Ronald, III, and Kane; siblings, Gusta Booker, III (Nicole) and Alita C. Booker Reed (Kelly); lifetime friends, and his special GSM family.
Visitation will be held on (Friday) January 20, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. – 6 p.m. at the Greater St. Matthew Baptist Church (SOUTHEAST) Campus, 7701 Jutland, Houston, TX, 77033, Pastor Ronnie will lie in state on (Saturday) January 21, 2023 from 9-10:55 a.m. at the Greater St. Matthew Baptist Church (SOUTHWEST) Campus, 14919 So. Family, thank you for sharing this phenomenal man of God. Rev. Ronnie, officiated my mother's home going service in 2006. He will always be remembered for being selfless, preaching the word on a level that was relatable, and his love for "chicken." May you find comfort in knowing that he touched the lives of so many people at Greater St. Matthew Baptist Church on Jutland and South Main. Our Lord called his name, Rev. Ronnie answered. Prayers and sincere condolences to you and your family.

Ronnie was my Brother whom I highly respected and unconditionally loved. He was the last Pillar of the Booker family who always gave out voluntarily an unselfish act to keep us united in love, peace and happiness.( just like his Dad, Gusta Booker Sr(II) ) I hurt so much because I can't easily accept losing my Favorite and our Champion which we all looked up to in confidence and with love. Thank you Valree, my Sister in Love for your unconditional and genuine love you gave our Brother/Cousin and my Sisters and I thank you for your considerations, and unconditional and genuine love for us. We love you Val to the moon and back!

My dearest Ronnie, it is extremely hard for me to accept the reality of you not being here with us physically and having to post on an Obituary site. I know you're reading this truth of mine from my heart. I love and I miss you soooooo much! Though you had tons of prayers going up to God everyday asking him to heal & strengthen you, let you go home to Val and then later bless you to come back to church and minister to us and shout your testimonies, but He chose otherwise. You are a beautiful person inside out, very respected and loved by so many people. I am so blessed to have had you in my life from 1965 til 2023 not only as my baby brother/cousin, years later as my Pastor. We will never know the answer or understand why you went thru so much in life, but I do know that I'd witnessed you holding on to God's hand, praising him, keeping the faith and not giving up. You were God's Soldier, when He was ready for you, you were ready for Him! I know you're rejoicing in the Heavens and I know that God has the final word. Thank you for loving me, my boys and Jordan. You're no longer in that old pain anymore my love. No matter the circumstance, you always dealt with life with an humble spirit and a smile on your face. What eases my severe pain is knowing that you knew I had your back and that I truly loved and cared about you. Rest now Ronnie with no pain at all. I love you & I miss you always. Lynda (your favorite cousin).
