Ronald Gerke Obituary

RONALD D. GERKE, retired USAF Major of Katy, passed away on January 18, 2008. He was 72. Ronald was born in State Center, Iowa on January 23, 1935 to Erhart Gerke and Lucille Harrendorf Gerke. After attending Iowa State University for two years, he joined the United States Air Force, and came to Ellington Field as an Aviation Cadet. He met and married Mary Steele in 1956. Over twenty years, Ronald served across the United States and in Viet Nam. Following service to his country, he worked another twenty years for Sony in Houston. Survivors include a son, Greg Gerke and his wife Debbie; granddaughter, Jenna Gerke; daughter, Tracy Gerke; brother Harlan Bohnsack and wife Julie, and their children, Monie and Burke Bohnsack. Ronald was fortunate to have many caring neighbors and pet friends in Katy. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 22, at First United Methodist Church, 1320 Main Street in Houston.
