Atty, Roy Murphy, III passed away peacefully at home. Survivors are his wife of 32 years, Janet, three sons, Scott Murphy (Melissa), Brian Murphy (Genny), Scott Hunley (Jenny), and daughter, Jill Murphy Burns (Tom); Grandchildren, Sydney and Sarah Hunley, Cole and Cade Murphy. Roy is survived by his siblings, Elizabeth Scott, Mary McCormick Roper (Jimmy), John Murphy (Judy) and the mother of his three children, Madeline Murphy. Parents, Mary Ann Grant Murphy and Roy Murphy, Jr. predeceased him.
Roy was born and raised in Port Arthur, Tx and attended First Christian Church where he found his love of God, Jesus, and the Bible. Roy was a true Gentleman. He graduated TJ High School in '60, Lamar Univ in '64, JD degree from South Texas College of Law and practiced law for over 40 years in Houston. He was a Board-Certified Personal Injury Trial lawyer and headed Murphy, Merrell and Vercher, Law Firm. Roy was known for his ethics, integrity, compassion, and humility. After retiring, Roy taught Gov't at Lone Star CC and was Asst. Atty General.
Celebration of Life will be November 20, 2021, at Noon, Macedonia United Methodist Church 23391 Macedonia Road, Hockley, Tx 77447

I had Professor Murphy twice (spring and summer) in 2012 as a government professor. A very fun man and always humorous. I was just thinking of him this morning and I am very saddened to learn he is gone. Rest in peace, Professor Murphy.

Roy & I met in Law School. We served on the board of the Little League Football Team Klein Rams. He was a fine lawyer. I'm sorry to hear of his death.
