Roy Lee Sharp passed away peacefully on August 9, 2021 in Houston at the age of 83 as a faithful husband, father, son, friend, and follower of Jesus.
Roy was born in Pampa, Texas on March 21, 1938, to Ruben Eugene and Sally Williams Sharp. He graduated from the University of Missouri School of Mines in 1961 where he earned a BS in Electrical Engineering. He was a member there of the Sigma Nu Fraternity.
Roy was a Registered Professional Engineer in Texas. He designed and sold process control instrumentation systems to the Oil and Gas and Chemical Industries for 45 years. He loved sports of all kinds, played basketball in high school and college, officiated college basketball, and was a competitive tennis player.
Roy had a special place in his heart for the physically and mentally challenged and spent a week each year of his vacation volunteering for the Texas Special Olympics state meet. He loved travelling with family and friends and playing bridge. He was an active member of Chapelwood United Methodist Church where he ushered for 47 years.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, brother Harper Eugene Sharp, and niece Patricia Sharp Taylor. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years Judy, daughters: Vicki Ann Sharp, and Stephanie Lee Sharp and husband Robert Flores. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Ann Sharp, nephew Larry Sharp and wife Jeri, and niece Sheri Rieke and husband Glen, and several great nieces and nephews.
A family celebration of Roy's life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations in his memory may be made to the Brookwood Community, 1752 FM 1489, Brookshire, TX 77423, the Chapelwood Foundation, 11140 Greenbay, Houston, TX 77024, or a charity of your choice.
