Samuel Preski
Whetstone, born July 22, 1986 in Houston, Texas, the son of Stephen and Nancy Whetstone, passed away peacefully at home on March 18, 2011. He was 24 years old.
Sam was a Son of the American Revolution. He was a graduate of the University of Miami (FL) High School. He was pursuing a degree in Psychology at the University of Phoenix and had plans to return in the summer semester. Sam was a student at Lone Star Expeditions as a teenager and later became the first former student to be employed as a staff member for the Aspen Education Group. He took great pride in his work with teens. He was affectionately known as 'Tracker Deuce.' Sam was certified in CPR, Low and High Ropes, Trip Leader and American Red Cross First Aid. He loved the wilderness and the serenity it brought to his life. He also enjoyed camping, working out, cooking, and movies. One of his favorite quotes was: "The hurt that troubled youth cause, is never greater than the pain they feel."
He is survived by parents Stephen and Nancy Whetstone; sister McKinney Whetstone Cornett and her husband, Mark Cornett, all of Sugar Land, Texas. He also leaves his maternal grandmother Mary Elizabeth McKinney of Robinson, Texas; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his paternal 'Gramcraker,' Helen Ann Whetstone; paternal grandfather, Robert Eugene Whetstone; maternal grandfather, Harvey Joe McKinney; Aunt Rebecca McKinney King; and his beloved dog, Musket.
Funeral Service will be held on April 30th, 2:04 PM at Calvary Episcopal Church, 806 Thompson Road Richmond, TX 77406.
