Sandra Norris Obituary

SANDRA S. ELLIS NORRIS won a personal victory over her struggles with illness and went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, July 23, 2002. She was proceeded in death by her mother and father, Edith V. and Sam D. Ellis, as well as her husband of 33 years, Berry E. Norris Jr. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Nathalie and Steven Ross, sister Paula Smith, and brother Sam Ellis Jr., as well as her nephew Sam Ellis III, nieces Scheherazade Ellis and Micah Semmelmann as well as many loving relatives from her state of ancestry, North Carolina. Sandy was a blessing to her friends, family, and community and will be missed terribly by many. She was full of life, compassion, music, and beauty. Sandy not only was a loving wife, unsurpassable mother and sister, and giving friend, but also a voice for her community and for our environment as well as a very talented musician and poet. She gave tirelessly of herself even at times when she was tired, selflessly by putting her needs second, and lovingly with the fullness of her heart. The void left by her absence can only be filled by the memories of her enthusiasm for life. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 3, 2002 in the chapel of the First United Methodist Church, 1062 Fairmont Parkway, Pasadena, TX, In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the charity of your choice.

FIfteen years... Tomorrow will be fifteen years since I lost my mom and there isn't a day that passes that I don't miss her terribly. I want to thank everyone who left messages and memories. While the memories live so does she in her own magical way. Please feel free to contact me at any time with memories of her.

My wife, Cleone, and I would like to give our condolences to the family. We are Aunt and Uncle to Sandy and were so sorry to learn of her death. It has been several years since we had seen her, but did talk with her on the phone every few months. We are sure that she is happy to be with her husband, Mom and Dad, Papa and Mama Davis and can watch over her beloved mountains of North Carolina.

Gosh, little Sandy--remembering high school days, it seems like just a little while ago. I trust Sandy is with the angels and is as happy as she was in the 50's. John Spencer

A very special friend for over 40 years. You brought us so much joy and could sit and talk with you for hours. I'll miss you Sandy, it just won't be the same without you. You will always be in my heart and in my soul until that day that the Lord takes me from this place. You were that sister I never had and can't wait until we can all be together again. I love you very much.

I also share memories of Sandy at Jackson Jr. High in the band, and in the P.H.S. Band. I remember Sandy as a very personable gal who loved life and enjoyed people. I pray that our God will bless and give the peace that passes all understanding to those who remain.

I really didn't know Sandy that well in our days at PHS but she was always a friendly, cheerful person. I last saw her in June 1998 at our 40 year high school reunion - she had a great time as did the rest of us.

May God bless you and be with you in your time of sorrow.

I first met Sandy in the early 60's. It was our political activities that brought us together. I remember her marriageto Berry and the birth ofher daughter.

We have kept in touch over the years even tho miles kept us apart.

I was looking forward to seeing her over the Labor Day holiday, since I will be back in Texas visiting family and friends.

I will miss her greatly.

My memories of Sandy Ellis Norris carry me back to Jackson Jr. High in Pasadena, Texas and the Marching Wildcat Band. We laughed and were the class clowns together. I threw a Houston Press paper route that here family subscribed to. My mother and her mother worked in the kitchen at First Methodist Church service the Pasadena Rotary club. I know that heaven is a much brighter place today because a beautiful soul who loved life is there to keep everybody laughing and appreciating the beauty that surrounds them. Know that you are in my prayer, as well as the graduating class from Pasadena High School, 1958.

To the families of Sandy and Berry Norris - My condolences to you both. My tenure with Merichem began in 1983 -86 and again from 1994 until the present. I knew Mr. Norris, but not Mrs. Norris. We still get calls at Merichem/MCRS for Mr. Norris, and he is still missed. My thoughts and proyers are with all of you at the sad time, but the pleasant memories will see you through. Sincerely,
