Officer Branford passed away October 11, 2015. Visitation 12:00 PM to 12:55 PM Funeral Service will follow at 1:00 PM Saturday October 17, 2015 @ Holman Street Baptist Church 3501 Holman Street. Interment: Houston Memorial Gardens.

I never met Officer Branford, but I pray for all police officers in the difficult job they choose to do. Officer Branford must have been an honorable man and I am praying for his family, May you all be drawn closer to Christ Jesus and fell the comfort of the Holy Spirit.

On yesterday I attended the "Homegoing Services" for HPD Officer Taurean Branford, one of the twin sons my good friends Daniel and Barbara Branford. For days I had been trying to think of the proper words to say to my friends in hope to bring some "Peace" back to their lives. I thought of a reflective message that I penned years ago titled "No One Knows The Time", but it was yesterday as I sat in the midst of all in attendance that I clearly heard the last words of my "Old Friend" Mr. Hosea Henderson which I read a little over a week ago in his obituary, again flowing through my mind as I listen to the words of those who spoke so highly of Taurean's life...a life to most not lived long, but a life indeed lived "Good" in service and love for those around him. So on yesterday after the service as I embraced "Big Boy" (the name I have always affectionately called Daniel), I spoke these words of reflection to him, for him and his wife "BJ" to reflect on as they continue to traverse the bereavement process, "A Long Life Is Good, But A Good Life Is Long Enough"! Indeed their son Taurean lived a "Good Life" of caring and sharing the "Love" which Almighty God had placed in him for him to discover in time and be guided by into his life's destiny and now he is free, free to live life eternally, Rest In God's Perfect Peace Taurean and to the family Be Blessed.......Selah

Taurean. We came to VCD at the same time two years ago. In those two years you and I worked side by side almost every night. You were one of the most dependable, honest, hard working officers I knew. You were never upset, always collected and were the example to live by. I will miss you every single day. I wish we didn't lose you. Rest easy brother. Look to the Hills from which comes thy help. I Help is coming from the Lord. I worked at the Fondren / S.Gessner station with Branford where he has touched many co-workers lives with his presence. Not only did we lose a co-worker, but we lost a friend, and brother as well. We will miss him dearly.
