Dear Becky,

Your lifetime of devotion to Mammaw has been an inspiration to us all.

Mammaw has always been a part of my life. Special memories include the sound of her distinctive voice calling out my name; her many visits to our home in Houston during the holidays; her wonderful baked goodies including her pies (we always had pies from Mammaw) and her pink divinity, just to name a few. I remember her floral dresses, her long gray hair, and her confident manner. I remember Mammaw always made us feel like we were all her grandchildren, and we were the luckier for it.

My fondest memories are of our family’s times at the bay house in San Leon. We would catch blue crabs off the pier with twine and chicken necks, and tote our catch back to Mammaw who would drop them in her huge crab pot. She would laugh at us as we squealed in imitation of the crabs’ plight. I remember listening for hours to her 45 records on the old Hi-Fi (Ramblin’ Rose and Mona Lisa were favorites of Mammaw’s); Speedy, her dog; water skiing all day in the bay; not missing TV; the smell of Coppertone; Mammaw’s perpetual tan; my perpetual sunburn; and just loving every minute of being by the water with this remarkable woman.

Rest in peace, Mammaw, and thank you for all the wonderful memories.

Love,

Peggy

Many memories of Mammaw will always be with me: her Christmas sugar cookies; her long white hair braided and coiled into a bun; what we gave her every Christmas: her annual red diary and chocolate covered cherries!; her white cake/white icing/with coconut shavings on top made just for me; her pecan trees; her chair and window; her love of animals; and most of all her love of gardening. I didn't inherit her ability to cook but I did gain her green thumb and her love of reading! I can't walk by a rose without appreciating its beauty and thinking of her roses. I definitely can't walk out of a bookstore without buying a book!! I hope I can live as long as she did, see as much as she saw, and maybe have great grandchildren who will remember me for my roses, books, and white cakes... even if those are made from a box!! I will miss you Mammaw. Love, Meredith

Having grown up with Becky as cousins I had the great honor of meeting her Mammaw Nolan.

One special memory is when our large family of 9 were landlubber guests at her beach house one special summer and I have often recalled warm memories of that trip.

We learned how to catch & cook live crabs, water ski, and even experienced a fabulous croaker run.

Her memory will live on through the lives of so many.

Mammaw was a devoted grandmother and had a profound affect on my life. For 60+ years she was a part of my daily life. She was a strong and independent woman and she lived a good life ieaving behind many wonderful memeories! She was an excellent cook and gardner and she love her bay home in San Leon, Tx. She loved her home in Houston and it was with much sorrow that she had to leave toward the end of her life. She almost made it to 99 years old! I know she is in a better place with Pop and Tommy. I will miss her, but she will be in my heart and soul forever. When ever you see a beautiful rose or red carnation, please think of my "Mammaw". With all my love....Beck
