Thomas, Susana, Thomas and Victoria Jacomini

Thomas, Jacomini Obituary

JACOMINI Thomas Paul Jacomini, Jr., 42, his beloved wife Susana (Susie Quiros), 38, their son Thomas Paul Jacomini III, 7, and daughter Victoria Virginia “ViVi”, 5, died on the Friday morning, the 15th of August 2008, the victims of a tragic airplane accident near Steamboat Springs, Colorado. They are survived by Tommy’s parents, Beverly and Thomas Paul Jacomini of Houston and Roundtop; by Susie’s parents, Mary and Evan Quiros of Laredo, Texas; by Susie’s grandfather Evan B. Quiros; and by Tommy’s grandmother, Kathryn Herring Stephenson. They are also survived by Tommy’s sister, Joanie Herring and her husband Lafayette Brown Herring, III, and their son Lafayette IV; by Tommy’s sister, Kathy Masterson and her husband Harry Masterson, and their children, Kay, Cochran and Garrett; by Susie’s brother, Evan B. Quiros II, his wife Christine, and their children, Hannah, Megan, Evan Maverick; and by Susie’s sister Celina Stabell and husband Jason Stabell, and their children, Catherine and Elizabeth. Tommy was Senior Vice President of Sempra Energy. Tommy was respected and beloved by all his colleagues and co-workers for his warmth, dedication and knowledge. Tommy was born on the 14th of July 1966 in Houston where he attended Kinkaid School. He later graduated from the University of Texas at Austin, where he was a member of the Texas Cowboys Honorary Society and of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. Susie was born on the 8th of April 1970 in Laredo, Texas where she attended the St. Augustine School. She later attended the University of Texas at Austin, after which she worked in New York City as a fashion merchandiser. It was in New York City that the couple first met in 1997. They were married in 1999 at the 5J Farm in Roundtop. Tommy was a prince of a man - an amazing husband, father, and friend. Tommy was a highlyskilled and experienced pilot. For those who came across Tommy’s path whether a life long friend or a first time acquaintance, Tommy had God’s natural gift of making all people feel as though they were the most important person in the world. Susie comes from the warmest and most loving of families, and that’s the kind of family she built with Tommy. She was a beautiful person - incredibly warm and loving, generous, vibrant, and also very funny. She was a wife and mother first, but also an interior designer, and she carried herself with amazing style, class, and grace. And Thomas and Vivi were precious children. Thomas loved building Legos, model airplanes, playing outdoors and was an amazing artist. Vivi was a little princess who loved to catch frogs and lizards and any kind of bug that came her way. Tommy and Susie were a spirited couple with a particular flair for life. Along with their children, they were lovers of the outdoors, travel and flying. Susie and Tommy loved each other, they loved their kids, they loved their family and friends, they loved life and that is why we all loved them. This remarkable and beautiful family will be missed by all who knew them, but for those who are left behind, the memory of Tommy, Susie, Thomas III, and Vivi will be a blessing forever. A famous writer was once asked, “How many friends do you have?” and his reply was, “I don’t know I haven’t suffered a tragedy yet.” The Quiros and Jacomini family wish to thank all their known and unknown friends that came forth to help us in the worst tragedy that we could ever imagine. Friends are cordially invited to gather and share remembrances with the family from half-past five o’clock in the afternoon until half-past eight o’clock in the evening on Thursday, the 21st of August, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Mark Glasser, located at 2406 River Oaks Boulevard in Houston. For those desiring, valet parking attendants are to be positioned at the entrance of the residence. A memorial mass, honoring the family, will be conducted at ten o’clock in the morning on Friday, the 22nd of August, at St. Anne Catholic Church, 2140 Westheimer Road in Houston, where the Rev. John F. Robbins, C.S.B., will serve as the lead celebrant, with the Rev. Dr. Laurens A. Hall, Rector of the Episcopal Church of St. John the Divine, also participating. Immediately following the service, all are invited to join the family for a reception in the adjacent St. Basil Hall of the parish. In Laredo, there will also be a memorial mass, to be held in honor of the family, at ten o’clock in the morning on Monday, the 25th of August, at Blessed Sacrament Church, located in that city at 2219 Galveston Street. In lieu of usual remembrances, and for those who would like to honor this special family, please consider a contribution to the Thomas Paul Jacomini, Jr. Family Foundation, 1701 Brun St., Suite 101, Houston, TX, 77019. My heartfelt condolences to
Mrs. Beverly Jacomini and Mr. Thomas Jacomini of Houston, in addition to Kathy Masterson, upon hearing of this, even as very belated in my condolences to all.
This was very shocking, in addition a tremendous loss, and having only met Tommy once at a relative´s, I can honestly say he was a kind and respectful person, with a quiet way and with also such a lovely family.
I was in Jackson, WY., when I heard of this, on the news.
I called my Grandmother.

I think of Mrs. Jacomini, often.
I´m writing in to say
God bless your sweet family.

Very Best,

I only recently learned about this tragedy and I have not stopped thinking about the Jacomini family, nor all of the relatives and friends who must cope with such a sudden loss. I met Tommy and Suzie, and their children, a couple of times and although I didn't know them well, I feel great sadness for what has happened. Please know I am keeping all of you in my thoughts and prayers.

How to honor the memory of my neice, Susie, her wonderful husband Tommy, and her precious children, Thomas and Vivi ???
Simple, one only has to go forward in life lending a helping hand to those in need and less fortunate. That's what Susie and Tommy did every day of their earthly existence. They did it without thinking and without expectations of gratitude. It was part of their "persona"... it was the way they were raised by loving parents, Mary and Evan Quiros, and Tommy and Beverly Jacomini. Their loss is a painful new reality to all of us who will have to bear the void left behind. Theirs are 'big shoes' to fill !!!! Our job is to keep their memory alive by reaching out and doing what came naturally to Sue and Tommy!!

To the Quiros & Jacomini Family,

Words cannot express the deep sadness that I feel towards your loss. Susana was an incredible person. To think of her is to think of a person with great poise, kindness, warmth, and generousity. When I saw her two months ago at our 20th high school reunion, I can see in her eyes and in her smile that when she spoke of her family, she had found true happiness and peace in Tommy and her children. It is her love of family and of life that I will always remember her by.

My prayers will always be with you.

My heart has been overflowing with compassion for both of your families this week. I did not know sweet Susie but like so many, Tommy is part of many wonderful memories that I have growing up in Houston. He transcended school affiliations and cliques. It was as natural to have Tommy at an SJS gathering as it was at anything Kinkaid. Port O'Connor was always going to be more fun with Tommy present. He was everybody's other brother but there had to be something fundamentally wrong with any little gal that did not have a slight crush on that blue eyed boy! Someone observing Tommy from afar might assume that he most certainly had to be arrogant but that was immediately dispelled from the first words out of his mouth and the warmth of his smiling face.
I so wish that you all did not have to wake up to this new and painful reality everyday. I know that God is faithful and will continue to heal your broken hearts. Until then, I am sure that had each member of the little Jacomini Jr. family been asked who they would like to enter eternity with, it would have been the very ones whose hands they now hold forever.
Huge hug to Joanie and Kathy.
God bless you all....

To the Quiros and Jacomini Family,

You have been in my thoughts and prayers, since hearing of the tragic loss of Susie and her family. I will continue to pray that God give you the strength to heal and get through this difficult time.

I was fortunate to see Supa at our 20 year reunion, back in June. She showed me some photos of her husband Thomas and her beautiful children Tommy and Vivi. I could tell, as she commented, how very proud she was of her family. We will all miss Susie very much. Take comfort in knowing that Susie and her family are in heaven now, together, forever.

I live in Chicago and read about the terrible accident of your family members. I lost a brother in a tragedy and found the following poem comforting. He died 3 years ago next week and I still read it often:
Fill not your hearts with pain and sorrow..but remember me in every tomorrow. My going has eased my pain and given relief. So dry your eyes and forget your grief. Remember the joy, our laughter, my smile..and that being apart is just for a while. Remember me also as I used to be. Understand in your hearts, so precious to me, that I've gone on ahead to dwell up above, and until we're once more together...You have all my love.

Tommy and Beverly,
You have my deepest sympathy on the loss of Tommy and his family. I never met his wife or children but knew they were a happy family from the way he talked about them. I will always remember Tom with fondest memories when I fly aerobatics. He entered the Gulf Coast Regional Aerobatic Competition @ Conroe Airport with the intention of beating me but that did not happen. Every time we met after that we shared those memories. until one of us is taken away

it hurts so bad to see them go
but there is something you should know

so now their in heaven to unwind

they are all together and happy too
looking down from above at me&you

they want to tell you things will be fine
go back to your life it was our time

Dear Celina, Quiros Families and Jacomini Families, My heart and soul will forever be emblazed by the beauty of Susie, and the photo of her family. As a child growing up in Laredo, I always looked up to Susie. She was beautiful, smart, graceful, a talented ballerina, a glimmering smile, and such a beautiful soul. She always made me smile when I spoke to her. She inspired me. I lit candles over the weekend, and continue to pray for their souls. May their lives continue to burn brightly for all of us on earth who grieve the sudden loss of such a wonderful family. I express my deepest condolences and my thoughts and prayers remain with you. With love, Nora Lee

Tommy, Beverly,Kathy and Joni; Harold and I are so very sorry for this great loss. We loved Tom Tom very much. Although I never met His wife and children I have heard what a beautifuf family they made. When I lost someone I loved very much, I was told they were only in the next room waiting for me. I know this beautiful family is in the next room waiting to greet each of you one day. Please know we are here for you and praying for you all.

Tommy, Beverly, Kathy and Joanie, Also to the Quiros: Our family has prayed hard from the moment we heard the news. We cannot fathom the pain you suffer. I never had the pleasure of meeting his beautiful family and years since I’ve seen him. I will always remember him as Tom Tom a spitting image of his dad. Please know we are all grieving with you all and our prayers are with you. God will give you strength and help you though this horrific time.

To the Jacomini and Quiroz families, I so heartbroken when I heard of this terrible tragedy. I did not know Susie or the Quiroz family, though I pray for you and pray you will in time have comfort. I did however, know the Jacomini family and spent many hours and days at your home and ranch while growing up living on Pelham. Joanie was my best friend and I am so sad for the loss of Tommy and his family. They were taken from us all too soon. I will keep you all in my prays through this tragic time. MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALL AND KEEP YOU WRAPPED IN HIS LOVING ARMS. With love to you all. (I remember the farm house that Tommy and Susie had fixed up)

I can't even begin to comprehend the utter grief and despair your families must be experiencing through the unexpected, tragic death of Tommy, Susie, Vivi, and Thomas. Nothing so blindsides as the early death, young lives gone before their time. My heart and prayers go out to you as you struggle through such tremendous pain. I remember spending times visiting with you, Mary, in Houston while we proudly watched our grandchildren play in the park, and also the times in Steamboat on a hike, on a picnic....They will remain in our hearts as the beautiful family who made such a difference in our lives. May God grant you peace.
