My heart goes out to Carol, her children, grandchildren, and Tommy's brothers on the loss of such a wonderful person in their lives. I had only seen Tommy once since we graduated from Rice and although he had a bit more gravitas by middle age, he was still the same warm, fun person I had known. At Rice, Tommy was always kind, funny, highly principled, ready to have a good time, and always true to Carol. I bet he was one of the best grandfathers in existence. We are all saddened to know that his cheerful spirit is gone from the world and heaven is lucky to have him. My deepest sympathies to Carol. I know this will leave an unfillable hole in your life, but I am glad you have some of Tommy left in your children and grandchildren.

God's peace to Carol, the boys and their families. I am so sorry for your loss. The Mayer family enjoyed Tom so much. Tom and Jim coached baseball for many years together with our kids. What a wonderful role model Tom was and always a happy guy and so easy to be around. To this day, I remember what he always said to the kids: "Look good, feel good, play good"! Tom did have a big smile and big heart. He never met a stranger. We have many wonderful memories with Tom. We will miss him as I know many others will. My heart is heavy today.

To Carol and family, I am so sorry for your loss. You are in my prayers that God may comfort you. Sometimes we don't know why things happen the way they do, but we know that God always has a plan. Tommy and I grew up together and he could always make me smile. Tommy and my Dad were very close and he loved him like a son he never had. Tom could make us laugh so hard our stomachs would hurt. We love you Tommy, rest in peace my brother.

I first met Tom in 9th grade, we continued our friendship through graduation at Highlands in 1967; our paths crossed again at recent high school reunions. Tom didn't lack happiness or friendship; he had most everything he needed. I think what he wanted most was to give, not receive; which no doubt he did. Tom once told me “don't let a little dispute injure a great friendship.” Friends come and go but a friend like Tom was rare; my memories of him will always stay in my heart.

Tommy was one of the nicest guys I have ever met. He had a warm contagious smile for all that should never be forgotten . I met him in the 9th grade at Rogers Jr. High in homeroom as one of Mrs. Burk's Bunnies. I'm so glad I had a chance to talk with him at our 40th and 45th reunions for the Highland H.S. class of 1967. May God welcome Tommy with open arms and be with his family during this difficult time. Rest in peace old friend.
