Timothy Schmidt Obituary

Timothy E. Schmidt
1960-2017
Timothy Elwood Schmidt passed away peacefully in his home on Monday, May 1, 2017, surrounded by his family, at age 56.
Tim is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Caren, and their three children: Kyle, Paige, and Brad. He is also survived by his father, Elwood, and brothers Paul and Phillip. He was preceded in death by his mother, Fay Schmidt.
Above all, Tim was a loving husband and father and a devoted Christian man. He built a successful life and worked every day to provide for his family, whom he adored. He was most tender, funny, and happy at home with his family. He lived all aspects of his life with honor, generosity, goodness, and determination. God first, family second, everything else after.
Tim was born October 4, 1960, in Slaton, Texas. He proudly attended Texas A&M as a member of the Corps of Cadets, Class of 1982, where he received a Bachelor's of Business Administration in Finance. Following college, he served as a Supply Corps Officer in the United States Navy and was awarded the Navy Achievement Medal. Tim went on to receive a Master's of Science in Health Care Administration from Trinity University, Class of 1989. He humbly served as the Chief Executive Officer to hospitals in Louisiana, Arkansas, New Mexico, Illinois, and Texas. He was a visionary in his leadership and earned the true respect of many. Tim recently retired as the C.E.O. of Bay Area Regional Medical Center in Webster, Texas. Upon his retirement, Tim was awarded a Key to the City of Webster, Texas and April 5th, 2017, was declared "Tim Schmidt Day."
In his free time, Tim enjoyed golf, camping, movies, playing cards or dominoes, and Aggie Football. He was an active member of the Rotary Club and was named a Paul Harris Fellow.
The memorial service honoring Tim's life will be held at two thirty in the afternoon on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at St. Martin's Episcopal Church, 717 Sage Road, Houston, Texas 77056. Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Tim's memory be directed to MD Anderson Cancer Center or St. Martin's Episcopal Church.

So sorry to learn of Tims passing.
Tim and I were young CEOs together back in 1999. We worked for CHS, Group II. He in Membres, NM and I in Barstow, CA. We often met at DFW awaiting our flight Nashville. I got to know Tim and we became good friends. As your family knows, for profit healthcare executives are constantly moving. Tim and I kept in contact, through all the moves, for
quite a while. Then we lost touch.
I searched for Tim today and learned of his passing. He was an outstanding CEO, a wonderful family man, a community leader, and most importantly a great friend. I feel blessed to have met Tim and enjoyed our friendship. God bless and Rest In Peace my friend. Butch Naylor.

Caren, I just heard the news of Tim. I am so sorry for your loss. Tim was a great man but of course you don't need me to tell you that. I have great memories of Tim. I was an A&M D-1 classmate (buddy) of Tim's and also served in the Navy (both active and in the reserves) with him. He did love to play dominoes. I have wonderful memories of spending time with him. He was always kind, thoughtful, and encouraging. I particularly remember the dateless weekends and playing dominos in the dorm hallway with a board thrown over a trash can and eating Dominoes Pizza. We had really good conversations and laughs. May God bless you and your family with wonderful memories, comfort, and a great peace during this time. Kind Regards, Rock '82
