To my Family

Keep trusting in God, we know Van has gone to a better place. Keep him always in your hearts. Van is missed. Van is loved. I thank God for the time, though short, He gave Van to us. I am glad we had good times together. As a family we all laughed, cried, and worked together. I am most thankful for the times we hugged him and said I Love You, I will always miss his "I loved you, hon" and that great big hug and kiss on th jaw. I personally felt his love for me more than once. May God give each one of you strength, comfort and peace during this process of grieving.

The first time I saw Van he was playing basketball against my husbands team and I thought, WOW that guy is HUGE!! There is no way you can guard him. He was so fast and quick I was blown away. Needless to say my husbands team lost against Van's team every year. I really got to know Van when I started working at the church. I always felt safe knowing he was around. I loved seeing him, he had such an amazing presence. I will miss his gentleman's greeting of "Hello, Miss Kristi" as he tipped his head. What an amazing man the Lord has serving with Him!!! Please know that my husband and I are praying for you and your family. Thank you for sharing Van with us.

Van's smile will forever be etched in my mind! And every time I think of him I will SMILE!

His servants heart, great attitude and love for all those he encountered will be how I remember Van. He will be greatly missed and Second Baptist will never be the same, but I look forward to seeing him one day and seeing his GIANT smile in person.

Your family is in my prayers.

Val,

I am sorry that this happened. I will remember you in my prayers. Reading and meditating on the scriptures will help you through this. A comforting scripture is found at Acts 24:15. It contains a hope that you will see Van again. Please remember that I am here for you.

Van was a great friend. I first met Van as an AD at SBC and his warm smile was contagious. Through the years I always made it a point to say hello to Van because of the Blessing I received from his warm Big Smile. I never got a single handshake from Van. He always used two hands in his handshake when he greeted me! At SBC main campus I meet my wife and we were married there and Van made it a point to attend our wedding. That made it even more special! I last saw Van at the West Campus during the Christmas Car Show and I am so blessed to have seen and to give him a big handshake and hug. He will be greatly missed but I look forward to seeing him again in Heaven right after I meet Jesus. My Prayers to his Family. Your Husband and Father was a very Special man.

What do you say when words won't come only tears? Valerie, my heart goes out to you. I am praying for you daily. Aunt Birdie, Gail, Leah, Tony, Florence, Teddy, Charity, Chasity, Van Jr. and the rest of my family - I love you and I'm praying for you too. May God strenghthen you and may you know him as the God of comfort in this time. Remember that He said weeping may endure for a "night" but joy will come in the "morning". It may not seem like it now, but God will give you beauty for ashes, strength for fear, gladness for mourning and peace for despair. Lean on Him, Trust in Him, Be of Good Courage and he will strenghthen thine heart. Love Coco and Family

Mr Van Cypress was a joy to know. He always greeted everyone with a smile. He was a steady, gentle giant during emergencies at Second Baptist. You could count on him. Our family certainly did, several times. He will be greatly missed. We look forward to seeing his smiling face one day "when we all get to Heaven. What a day of rejoicing it WILL be!" Until then, may God bring you great comfort and joy in your memories of Van.

A LETTER FROM HEAVEN

TO MY DEAREST FAMILY, SOME THINGS I'D LIKE TO SAY.

BUT FIRST OF ALL, TO LET YOU KNOW, THAT I ARRIVED OKAY.

I AM WRITING THIS FROM HEAVEN. HERE I DWELL WITH GOD ABOVE. HERE, THERE'S NO MORE TEARS OF SADNESS; HERE IS JUST ETERNAL LOVE.

PLEASE DO NOT BE UNHAPPY JUST BECAUSE I'M OUT OF SIGHT. REMEMBER THAT I AM WITH YOU EVERY MORNING, NOON AND NIGHT.

THAT DAY I HAD TO LEAVE YOU WHEN MY LIFE ON EARTH WAS THROUGH. GOD PICKED ME UP AND HUGGED ME AND SAID "I WELCOME YOU.

IT'S GOOD TO HAVE YOU BACK AGAIN, YOU WERE MISSED WHILE YOU WERE GONE. AS FOR YOUR DEAREST FAMILY, THEY'LL BE HERE LATER ON.

I NEED YOU SO BADLY, YOU ARE PART OF MY PLAN. THERE IS SO MUCH THAT WE CAN DO, TO HELP OUR MORTAL MAN."

GOD GAVE ME A LIST OF THINGS, THAT HE WISHED FOR ME TO DO. AND FORMOST ON THE LIST, WAS TO WATCH AND CARE FOR YOU.........RUTH ANN MAHAFFEY

To the Cypress family:

As an Associate Deacon at Second Baptist Church, I express profound sadness concerning Van's passing. He was a great friend and partner to all of us, especially the guys serving the Frontline and Greeting duties. He had our backs and we had his. I will certainly miss

his gentle demeanor and pleasant disposition. Heaven has gained a great man. Van did his job well.

He will be missed. My prayers are with the family and may God's loving arms cover you in His Love during this time.

Humbly His,
