Walter Heap Obituary

Walter Heap
10/19/1982 - 02/22/2024
Walter Thomas Heap died peacefully on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at MD Anderson Hospital following a brief but intense battle with cancer.
Walter was born on Tuesday, October 19, 1982 in Houston, Texas. Following his graduation from University of Houston - Downtown, he moved to Austin, Texas where he found a job that he loved, with VISA. He quickly became the "go-to person" for his team, forging strong friendships and business relationships. During his final days, many of his work friends drove from Austin to visit Walter, and they all told tales of his incredible font of knowledge of all things work related. "Why research it," many said, "when we can just ask Walt?"
Walter loved hiking, rock climbing and riding on his motorcycle around the Austin area. He often said that his favorite place was Big Bend where he and his wife, Kat, hiked and camped as often as they could. Their home in Leander was a place where friends often gathered.
Walter was predeceased by his sister, Elizabeth Heap, his brother, William Robert Heap. He is survived by his wife, Kat, his mother, Nancy McCormick, his brother, Edward Heap, sister-in-law Kayla Heap, and their daughter Vivian. Walt's stepbrothers, Scott Saxton and Chris Saxton, join the list of numerous cousins, aunts, uncles and friends who love and miss him.
Private arrangements will be made by the family. No funeral or visitation is planned at this time.

Walt was unique, special and excelled in so many areas of his life. Whether he was playing the lead role as Teddy Roosevelt in the third grade at Briargrove or raking up merit badges as a Boy Scout, he pushed himself to accomplish much in his 41 years of life. We are so blessed to experience the light and joy that he showed us as a son, brother, nephew, cousin and a devoted friend to many. Walt´s spirit will always remain in our hearts. He was truly loved.

Walt was loved by all who knew him, especially those who raised him; his father Dr. Tom Heap, and his stepmother, Maria Saxton Heap. Also cherishing his memory are his Dallas cousins, Jenna, Barry, and Dorry Heap, and his aunt and uncle, Bill and Marilyn Heap, also of Dallas.
