Am very sorry to hear about the passing of Winchester. He was a very good friend, someone so kind to have invited me to his house for winter break when we were in 8th grade at Eaglebrook School in Massachusetts. At the time, coming from Japan, it was extremely expensive to return home for the holidays and accordingly, I had to find a family to say with, but was not sure where to go as I did not have any family or relatives living close by. Not to mention, I was very shy at the time and did not know how or to whom I can ask for such hospitality. One day, however, Winchester with his endearing smile, came over to me and out of the blue invited me to his home to spend such memorable holiday season with his beautiful family who also welcomed me as another child of their own. He, his parents, and his siblings were all so friendly, and I could never forget the time we spent together riding the van from Connecticut all the way down to Louisiana picking up his brother, sister, neighbor's children along the way and few large poodles that accompanied the entire round trip, making it a full-house. His father was such the gentleman and drove for us all that time. And of course, we did that again going back up.
Winchester and I would enjoy reading Lord of the Rings together and discuss its content, or rather, he was teaching me about the story as he was an avid reader. While staying at his place, I remember playing chess with him quite often, or rather, getting beaten all the time.
I will miss him, but my memories about him stay as clear as if all this beautiful experience just happened yesterday. Thank you, Winchester, for being such a kind, thoughtful, giving friend. May you rest In peace in God's hands.

Winchester was always a free thinker. I mean that in the kindest and strongest of ways. He was one of those guys at Woodberry Forest that made me reassess how I saw life. Anyone that can make one be introspective has made an important mark on one´s life. He will be missed. I wish I could be in NOLA next week for the celebration of him. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of his family.

Please accept my deepest condolences. I remember Winchester, well, from his time at Woodberry. He was always his own man and an awesome character and friend. Please do know many of us from Woodberry have shared our memories of Winchester with each other and his spirit and memory lives on with us. Peace to his family and friends.

Please accept my deepest sympathies. I remember Winchester from Eaglebrook, and his brother Leslie was a classmate and a friend. May his memory be a comfort and blessing.
