Yvonne Schuster Obituary

Yvonne Elizabeth Sebesta Schuster
1953-2018
Yvonne Elizabeth Sebesta Schuster, 64, of Austin, passed peacefully from this life on Friday, January 26, 2018. Yvonne was born November 13, 1953 in Bellville, Texas, to Ben and Eloise Sebesta, and married her devoted husband, Karl Schuster on October 15, 1983.
Following her graduation from Bellville High School in 1972, she moved to Austin to attend Business College. Upon graduation, she began her career as a bookkeeper for Sears, and then transitioned to software project management with Dell. During her career, Yvonne came to regard those with whom she worked not just as friends but as valued members of her extended family.
Married 39 years to her husband Karl, they enjoyed travel, sailing, hiking and numerous back-country camping adventures together. They shared many of these adventures with their friends and family, who will always remember the laughter and fun in places like Barbados, Galveston, Big Bend, Rocky Mountains, white-water rafting, Grand Canyon … and numerous National Parks. (And many brew pubs and local restaurants along the way!)
She also took great pride in her home garden, loved to cook, and enjoyed tending to the birds and squirrels in their backyard. She was a great lover of all wildlife and the wildflowers of Texas. She was an active contributor to the Audubon Society, World Wildlife Fund for Nature (WWF) and The Nature Conservancy.
She lived and loved on her own terms, and refused to be limited or defined by the health challenges she faced. Her friends and family were awed by her strength. Her husband Karl was honored to be at her side throughout her long journey.
She is survived by her husband Karl Schuster, a kitty with whom she had a reasonably peaceful truce, and numerous friends and family who will miss her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Eloise Sebesta of Bellville, TX, her baby brother David Royce Sebesta and her sister Marsha Witt.
She was also preceded by her in-laws Joe and Joanne Schuster, with whom she had a deep bond.
A viewing will be held at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, in Pflugerville, TX on Friday 2/9, from 5-8p. A graveside service will be held on Saturday 2/10. Her friends and family will host a celebration of her life that evening.
Honorary and memorial pallbearers are Karl J. Schuster, Deb Vogt, Peggy Kohn, Gus Schlachter, Nick and Lynne Verlenich, Bob and Cindy Simons, Scott and Jennifer Jewett, Peggy and James Setliff, and Betty and Kenneth Lehmann.
The family suggests that her memory can be best honored by donating time or service to any organization that promotes and preserves wildflowers and/or wildlife, or by supporting Annie's List or any other organizations that amplify the voices of women in society.

Karl and Yvonne extended their kindness and friendship to me, a neighbor who just happened to walk by their house one day with his dog. What a treasure I found.

We won the neighbor lottery nearly 20 years ago. Yvonne's big smile, wonderful laugh, and friendly wave were simply a big part of our daily lives, and will be deeply missed. Karl, I hope you know how much you are in our thoughts.

We knew Karl when he met Yvonne. It was fun to see him head over heels, besotted. He loved her that way their whole lives together. She was a special lady. Hope she has a corvette in heaven!

My cousin Yvonne had a heart of gold and enjoyed life. When she was still in high school. I would go to Bellville on Saturdays and her, Marsha and I would go to where ever the local dance was that weekend. It was sheer joy to spend that time with her. (I had the car). We would laugh all the way home. Mother and I spent several Christmas Eve's with her family. The three of us would sit outside on the front porch and wait for Jamie Elick to climb on the roof of his parents house and make like Santa Claus for his niece's and nephew's . and we would take bets to see if he actually fell off the roof. The one year that he did fall off Yvonne was the one that laughed the loudest. I will miss that laugh. A great cousin and I will miss her very much
