David (Dave) Charles Logan

Pelham Manor, NY - David Charles Logan (Dave) of Pelham Manor, New York, a former Manitowoc resident, passed away peacefully at his home with his loving family at his side on June 27, 2017, after a courageous battle with cancer. David was born on December 18, 1937 in Manitowoc, WI, to Joseph (Joe) and Charlotte Yeoman Logan. David began singing at the age of six at a family reunion and sang solo's at the local conservatory and sang with the church choir and high school chorus and at many local events. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1956. He went on to graduate from the University of Wisconsin in Madison in 1960 with a degree in Business Administration and Voice. While in Madison David performed in many musicals including "Oklahoma", his favorite. After graduation David joined the Army where entertaining troops became his assignment, "Guys & Dolls" was the big show. After the military David moved to New York City where he began his career in advertising at Grey Advertising, following in his father's footsteps (Joe Logan was the advertising manager of the Herald Times Reporter for over 25 years). David's career eventually led to network radio, starting at ABC Radio Network, the first national radio network. He later joined Interep and developed Concert Music Network. David's last project was the Hispanic Radio Network. On December 2, 1967 David married Cynthia Bush in Weston, CT. She preceded him in death on April 13, 2016. David was a member of the University Glee Club for 50 years and a member of the University Club in Manhattan for 53 years, it was his home away from home. David was an active member of the American Legion Post 50. David always kept very active and continued singing, dancing, swimming, skiing and hosting parties at his home for Christmas and at the University Club for Saint Patrick's Day, where guests could watch the Saint Patrick's Day Parade from the windows. He loved spending time with his family in the Hamptons in summer and in Sugarbush, VT in winter. David liked to help people and mentor people. He helped his local community put on charity events and participated in April of this year singing "Old Man River" and received a standing ovation, it was his last performance. David is survived by his three children: David Charles Jr. and Jessica Logan of Great Barrington, MA, Clark and Joanna Logan of Pelham Manor, NY, and Katherine (Kate) and Jack Oliver of Saint Helena, CA. His grandchildren: Dahlia, Declan, Clark and Jerry Logan, and Ewan, Peter and John Oliver. Also surviving is his sister Mary Logan Schuetze of Manitowoc, and his three nephews: Chap. Capt. John Schuetze USAF, Paul Schuetze and Joseph Schuetze of Manitowoc, and one niece Angela (Patrick) Katchak of Prospect, KY, grand nephews and nieces, many cousins and many friends. A viewing took place at the Pelham Funeral Home on July 14th where the American Legion Post 50 led a military ceremony. A mass was held at David's parish, Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Pelham, on Saturday July 15th. The University Glee Club sang and the American Legion Post 50 performed Military Honors. He was laid to rest with his wife at Oak Hill Cemetery in South Hampton. For more information or to leave a message of condolence please visit www.pelhamfuneral.com.

Mary, We are so sorry to hear the sad news about David. I remember all the fun times we had tagging along with Fritz, David and David when we were growing up! I wish we'd have known this summer when we were home so we could have expressed our sympathy in person. Our deepest sympathy. Cathy & David Schmidt
