Groothoff II, Robert E.

Robert E. Groothoff II, age 39, a Manitowoc resident, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, October 12, 2016 in Rhinelander.

He was born on March 9, 1977 in Two Rivers, son of Jane (Skor) Groothoff and the late Robert Groothoff. Rob was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School, Class of 1995. He was a Veteran of the United States Army. On March 14, 2014 he married the former Becky Riebe in Manitowoc. Rob was employed with Crafts, Inc. for many years. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. Rob was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan. He also loved to watch the Milwaukee Brewers with his step-daughter and enjoyed his fishing trips to Coon Valley, WI with his son, father-in-law and nephew Tyler.

Survivors include his wife: Becky; one son: Austin Groothoff; one step-daughter: Isabella Rappel; his mother: Jane (Jeff) Osesek, all of Manitowoc; three sisters and brothers-in-law: Chris (John) Stephan, Nebraska, Sara (John) Schultz, Manitowoc, Jennifer (Ben) Bauer, Two Rivers; two brothers and a sister-in-law: Mike (Jen) Chynoweth, Mishicot, Anthony Groothoff, Two Rivers; his father-in-law: Larry Riebe; his mother-in-law: Debra McKay; a sister-in-law: Nicole (Dennis) Posen; and a brother-in-law: Shawn Riebe, all of Manitowoc. Many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends survive, especially Shirley Wasurick and Chris Gorychka. He was also preceded in death by his step-father: David Dufek; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 17, 2016 at The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Service will be the Rev. David Beaudry. Cremation will occur after the service at All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc, and Rob will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc, at a later date.

The family will greet relatives and friends at The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, from 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 17, 2016 until 1:45 p.m.

Jane and family,
My heart aches for your loss. I remember the day you brought your sweet little boy home from the hospital and I got to hold him. He always had a big smile for me whenever I got to see him. I am thankful Damian had wonderful times playing baseball with Rob. May you find peace in the memories you have of Rob.
