Wayne S. Binversie

Formerly of Kiel - Wayne S. Binversie, of Oshkosh, formerly of Kiel, passed on into the loving arms of the Lord after a sudden and unexpected illness on January 10, 2019 surrounded by family and friends at Aurora Medical Center in Oshkosh. He was 49 years old.

Wayne was born on September 17, 1969 in Manitowoc to Stanley and Kay (Kasal) Binversie of rural Kiel. Wayne attended Kiel Public Schools where he was active in sports, musical productions, show choir, and also a member of the Schleswig Cadets 4-H club,

After graduating high school, Wayne proudly enlisted the United States Army serving in Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Upon leaving the service Wayne went on to graduate from the University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh. Wayne was a long-time employment at United Parcel Service in Oshkosh and most recently at The Bar in Oshkosh.

In recent years, Wayne was extremely active in the sport of rugby football where he served as a player, coach, and organizer. In addition to being a member of the Oshkosh Rugby Football Club, he was active with the statewide Wisconsin Rugby Football Union and its Midwest regional affiliates.

Wayne is survived by his parents, Stanley and Kay, Kiel; his brothers and sisters: Mary Beth (Tristan) Richards, ME; Steve Binversie, Little Chute; Tom (Brenda) Binversie, Sheboygan; John (Sarah) Binversie, School Hill; Paula Binversie, Belguim; Kathy Binversie (Doug Dahm), Elkhart Lake; Kevin Binversie, Sheboygan Falls; MSgt Kurt (Melanie) Binversie, CO; and Kraig (Mary) Binversie, School Hill; his brother-in-law, Bill (Laurie) Heckmann, Spring Valley; his nieces and nephews who knew him as "Uncle Wayne": Alastair, Graham, Natalie, Elizabeth, Lauren, Ryan, Savannah, Wyatt, Henry, Leah, Weston, Piper, Bryce, Addisyn and Kaleb; his aunts and uncles: Irene Ziegelbauer, Manitowoc; Robert Binversie, School Hill and Janet Seichter, New Holstein. He is further survived by his cousins, other relatives, and many of his Rugby family.

He is preceded in death by his sister, Laurie Ann Heckmann, his paternal and maternal grandparents, aunts, and uncles.

Per his wishes cremation has taken place. A Mass of Christian Burial for Wayne will be held at 4:00 pm on Monday, January 14, 2019 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church (11928 Marken Rd., Kiel) with Fr. Richard Klingeisen officiating. Burial will take place at a later date.

The family will greet relatives and friends at Church on Monday from 1:00 pm until 3:45 pm where brief family rites will be held.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Wayne's name.

The family would like to thank the staff at Aurora Medical Staff in Oshkosh for all the care and compassion shown to Wayne and his family.

I learned of Wayne's passing just this morning... i served with him in the Army and can honestly say that Wayne was one of the good ones! May the family find peace in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and enjoy the freedoms that Wayne served to maintain on behalf of his beloved Wisconsin...

Wayne was a wonderful and kind person, always there to help and always a positive force. It was a joy any time I got to see see him and he always had a smile and a funny story. A true legend and a fantastic man - he will be missed tremendously but his spirit will live on in the many, many lives he touched. I will miss you forever buddy, but we will meet again......
