Mary Bond Obituary
Mary Elizabeth Bond, 85
Mary Elizabeth Bond peacefully passed on to her heavenly home on September 15, 2025, in Richland, Washington.
Mary was born in Somerville, Pennsylvania, on February 16, 1940, to parents Fred and Janet Crowe. Mary lived in Maryland until around the age of 9, when the family moved to Montana, where Fred served as the minister of the Methodist church in Roundup. Mary laughed when she recalled how her Maryland friends and family worried about their move out to the wild, wild west.
Mary graduated from high school in Glendive and went on to attend Rocky Mountain College in Billings. While at Rocky, Mary met and married Jerry Nelson. Together, they had 3 children: John Thomas, Joan Lynn, and Jacquelene Marie.
Mary and Jerry lived in Columbia Falls most of their marriage, where Mary taught kindergarten and served faithfully in Columbia Falls United Methodist Church. After divorcing, Mary began working for the Columbia Falls school district, where she excelled as a reliable and valuable employee.
During this time, Mary began meeting for coffee with the charming school choir teacher, and soon the two were inseparable. Mary became Mrs. Ron Bond on February 28, 1985, and together the couple lived life to the fullest, hiking, adventuring, and serving the community with their musical talent and skills.
Of all the beautiful words that can be said of Mary, "kind" seems to be the all-time best. "Kind" was knitted into her DNA before she was ever born. "Kind" is what sparkled in her bright blue eyes up to the very last time they opened here on earth. Mary will be missed, but she will live on through all of us.
Mary was preceded in death by her daughter, Joan Lynn Kuemmerle, and her husband and love of her life, Ron Bond.
Those of us carrying on her beautiful spirit here on earth include her kids, bonus kids, and spouses: son, John and wife Heidi Nelson, daughter Jackie Ashcraft, son Mark and wife Judy Bond, son Kirk and wife Robyn Bond, and daughter Jill and husband Dan Sampson. Mary leaves behind 20 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren with one on the way.
A Celebration of Life will be announced with a future date in the summer of 2026 to be held in Columbia Falls.
