Andrew Perry Obituary

Nampa - Andrew Leonard ("Andy") Perry, 62, of Nampa, Idaho, left this world to join the Lord on July 7, 2024, surrounded by his family.

Andy was the middle child of Edward and Joy Perry. He was born in Caldwell, Idaho and spent his childhood in Nevada and Idaho. He graduated from Caldwell High School in 1980. After graduation, he joined the Marines. He left active duty and continued in the Marine Reserves. During his life he worked for Idaho Fish & Game, Direct TV, and as an emergency dispatcher for utility companies. While living in Horseshoe Bend, Andy was a volunteer firefighter and earned his EMT certification. He loved fishing, hunting, and spending time outdoors.

Andy met his beloved wife, Melissa, at the College of Idaho, not "sitting in a tree" as Andy liked to tell the story. He and Melissa were the best of friends and married on December 26, 1986, in Winnemucca, Nevada with older sister Dixie and brother-in-law Paul as chauffeurs and witnesses. Andy and Melissa lived in various places in Idaho and Montana in their 38 years of marriage.

Throughout their marriage he often wrote love notes for his wife to find. During his last hospital stay, he would ask the nurses and staff if they had met his beautiful wife.

Andy was goofy, had the best bad dad jokes, and truly loved people. He was all heart and would help a friend or stranger without question. If you were feeling down, Andy would do his best to put a smile on your face. He also greatly loved animals - when you went to visit you were always greeted by a dog at the door. He was the fifth generation of his family to live in Idaho. He loved researching genealogy, learning all he could about how his pioneer ancestors lived, and exploring different parts of the state.

The Perry family loved to play the card game "Shanghai" and came together each Friday for a weekly game for many years. He thought he was a pretty good card player, but his younger sister, Lynelle, would beg to differ.

Andy was a member of Treasure Valley Baptist Church and continued to hold the congregation in his heart even though he could no longer attend in person due to his health.

His parents, Edward, and Joy Perry preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife Melissa, and his sisters, Dixie Durham (Paul Durham) and Lynelle Perry, and various other loved family members (both blood relations and family by choice) that are far too numerous to list because God blessed him with many.

The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of St. Luke's-Boise 7 East and Medical ICU for their care of Andy and Melissa during Andy's stay.

A memorial service will be held on July 31st, 2024, 10:00 am at Treasure Valley Baptist Church in Meridian, Idaho. Cremation is under the direction of Cremation Society of Idaho. A private interment will be held at Kohlerlawn Cemetery at a later date. To honor Andy's love of animals, the family requests that donations be made to an animal rescue or shelter in lieu of flowers.
