Debbie Duncan Obituary
Nampa - Deborah "Debbie" Duncan passed away peacefully on October 22, 2021, at her home with family by her side. Debbie was born August 16th, 1957, in Nampa, Idaho to David & Vivian Parker where she joined three older siblings Robert, Jim, and Carol. She attended Nampa High and she could always be found flying around the rink at Roller Drome on a regular basis, she graduated in 1976. Debbie was blessed with her first-born child, Jeffrey Todd Parker in 1978. Five short years later Debbie met her soulmate, and the love of her life, Steve Duncan. They married August 13th, 1983, and soon Steve and Debbie added two daughters, Heather, and Shelby to complete their family.
Debbie spent her life helping others, no matter the task. We all swore the word "no" wasn't in her vocabulary. It didn't matter if the school carnival was in 10 days and not a single task had been completed, she was going to take it on and make it happen, and she NEVER FAILED! Debbie's biggest event she had taken on was the Melba Easter Egg Hunt. She spent endless hours/days every year gathering donations to buy candy and prizes to benefit her small-town Melba community that she loved so much. Every year she was able to make the event bigger with more eggs, prizes, and volunteers! Decorating for holidays was another huge joy in her life, where she never lacked in the decoration department and had enough décor for at least three households! She would come up with these insane ideas and Steve would find a way to bring them all to life for her. She even asked him to make her a full-size coffin for a haunted house she built purely as a fundraiser for the high school cheer team, it was AMAZING! She volunteered anywhere needed at the school whether it was in the lunchroom, classroom, or her favorite job, driving school bus for Melba. The town of Melba is where she loved to be and support, so much so that she was recognized as Citizen of the Year in 2005!
In January 2006, Debbie's life and her entire families changed drastically. She was diagnosed with a brain tumor that led to a difficult and problem filled surgery and recovery. Eventually we were able to get her back home where Steve continued to care for her along with in home care staff over the next 13 years. In July 2021 another large tumor was found in her stomach that led to another surgery followed by a long recovery with numerous setbacks. This time proved to be more than her tired body could handle. Her nearly 16-year fight to beat all odds came to a peaceful end. The family will be holding a Celebration of Life for Debbie on Saturday, November 13th, 2021 at the Melba High School at 11am followed by a potluck style luncheon. Please bring your favorite dish, pictures, and stories so we can all celebrate this amazing woman.
Debbie is preceded in death by her parents David & Vivian Parker and her brother-in-law Robert Gray. Debbie leaves behind her soulmate and husband Steve Duncan, son Jeff Parker & wife Michelle Parker, daughter Heather Hernandez & husband Jose Hernandez, daughter Shelby Duncan Cook & husband Correy Cook, and bonus son Darron Brown & wife Stephanie Brown. Her brother Bob Parker, brother Jim Parker & wife Susan, sister Carol Gray, numerous nieces, and nephews, and 11 grandchildren. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Keystone Hospice for their support in her final days.
