Duward Allen Obituary
Duward "Duke" L. Allen, 90, of Nampa, passed away at a Boise hospital on Monday, June 22, 2009. A graveside service to honor and celebrate his life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 27, at the Canyon Hill Cemetery in Caldwell with military honors by personnel from the U.S. Navy. Services are under the direction of the Alsip & Persons Funeral Chapel, 404 10th Ave. S., Nampa - 466-3545. Memories and condolences may be sent to www.alsipfuneralchapel.com.
Duward "Duke" L. Allen was born on March 27, 1919, in Ailsworth, Okla. He was reared and educated in Matador, Texas. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps from August of 1937 to March of 1938. He later joined the U.S. Navy in 1942 and was honorably discharged in 1945.
He worked in various states installing fire suppression systems. He later made his home in Placerville, Calif. He married Josie Mae Lewis on Dec. 4, 2002, in Carson City, Nev.
Following their marriage, they made their home in Nampa. Duke retired from the United Association of Journeyman and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry. He was a member of the Nampa Elks Lodge #1389.
Duke is survived by his wife, Josie Mae Allen, Nampa; his two children, four grandchildren and great-grandson, who all reside in California and two sisters who reside in Petersburg, Texas.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Idaho Elks Rehabilitation Hospital, P.O. Box 1100, Boise, ID 83701.
