John Walter Wagoner

1935 - 2021

Caldwell - John W. Wagoner, age 86 of Caldwell, Idaho, passed on September 20, 2021, in his home. He is now rejoicing in eternal rest with our Heavenly Father. John was raised on the family homestead, established in 1909, in the Pleasant Ridge area. He attended the Pleasant Ridge and Caldwell High Schools, retaining many lifelong friendships. John worked the family farm through his lifetime, took a 3rd shift job in 1963 at Simplot shoveling potatoes, and a nightshift job at the cement factory in Portland Oregon during the winter of 1966 while attending Conquerors Bible College. He began driving for Kent Bros Trucking (CKT) in 1974, and continued with them for 45 years hauling throughout the Northwest. John's travels took him to many places around the world; he sailed on the Queen Elizabeth with his mother in 1951 to her homeland of Switzerland, attended the 1982 Knoxville World's Fair, visited all over central Europe in 1985 with his daughter, Dawna, and later participated in a surprise Swedish TV tribute in Stockholm for his dear friend, Bjorn Dahlin. John loved his Caldwell heritage and its history. He was purposeful in meeting new people and connecting friends together while sharing stories over a cup of coffee all over town. He was always willing to help a friend or stranger, even to drive them to Washington DC to see family and friends.

John is survived by his daughters: Joleen Basabe-Knigge (Randy Knigge), Judy Fedourich (Walt), Dawna Wagoner; sisters: Rhoda Cobb and Esther Nigh: Grandchildren: Jon, Andrew and Joseph Basabe, Secilia Wagoner; Great-granddaughter Ellyette Basabe; numerous beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends who will miss him greatly. John is also survived by a beloved and loving companion, Sandra Sprague. He was preceded in death by his parents Julius Walter Wagoner, Rosa Schaer Wagoner and a brother Paul Wagoner.

Memorial service and fellowship will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 29, 2021 at Calvary Temple, 200 S. 6th Ave, Caldwell, Idaho. In lieu of flowers, a memorial in John's name can be made to Calvary Temple, or you can buy a friend or stranger a cup of coffee in his honor.
