Joseph Eggler Obituary

Boise - Idaho - Joseph Amory Eggler was born on May 5th 1931 in Newport News VA.

The son of Joseph Addison Eggler and Hazel R. Rushin. Joseph lost his father during World War two in 1942. Joseph was then sent to Christchurch Military School for Boys and spend 5 years at Christchurch School, from September 1945, and graduated in June of 1950. He played Football and was a dorm Hall leader. He was the student body President during his senior year and was also member of the Science club and Dance club chairman. Joseph was the last known survivor of the Christchurch High School class of 1950.

Joseph went on to join the US Coast Guard and was stationed at Ellis Island in New York where he met the Love of his Life Charlotte Ann Frey who was attending William and Mary University. Charlotte encouraged Joseph to attend College. In 1953 Charlotte and Joseph got married and Joseph enrolled and attended North Carolina State College at the time. Joseph graduated with a Degree in Forestry in 1960.

Joseph moved the family to Boise Idaho in 1960 and was stationed at Lowman Ranger station in the Boise National Forest. Joseph was blessed with a son while they were stationed in Lowman Idaho Ranger station. The Boise National Forest was created in 1908 from portions of the Payette National and Sawtooth Forest Reserves.

Joseph was promoted and moved to Boise a few years later and joined the Boise National Forest Head Quarters as a Timber Appraisal and Fire team lead. Joseph Spent many weeks away from home fighting fires in the Boise National Forest over the years as well as his Primary job of properly documenting the amount of board feet in an Acher of the Boise National Forest.

In May of 1970 Joseph was recognized with an Outstanding performance award for his work in the Boise supervisor's office. Joseph was offered many promotions; however, he turned them all down as it would have meant he would have to leave his beloved Boise National Forest. Joseph had great relationships with all the foresters in all districts and was a valued member of the forest service in the 70s and 80s.

Joseph helped establish classes for foresters and continued teaching new members a little something every year and enjoyed them all.

Joseph Retired from the Forest service with a successful and distinguished career in Forestry.

Joseph is survived by his Son John Eggler, and grandsons Joseph and Jonathan who reside in Oklahoma.

Joseph was a patient in the medical office I worked in for 12 years. He was always so kind and always had a smile.
