Kimberly A. Wright, 61, of Nampa, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 30, 2008, at home.
Kimberly was born Jan. 24, 1947, in Elk City, Okla., to Hal S. and Eva Joy (Wallgren) Christensen. She graduated from high school in 1965 in Heidelberg, Germany. She then traveled to Logan, Utah, in 1965 to attend Utah State University, where she met the love of her life, Donald E Wright. Kimberly and Don were married April 14, 1966, in Pocatello, Idaho. In 1978 she started working for the United States Census Bureau where she became a field supervisor, earning a reputation for converting refusal interviews and received The Census Award of Excellence in 1990 for such.
Kimberly retired in 1994 after 16 years of service. In retirement, she focused on her love of creating with her hands, such as crochet, cross stitching, card making and painting ceramic figures for which she earned numerous awards, but her greatest pleasures were the smiles they put on faces of friends and family when she gave them away.
Kimberly loved to entertain, often opening her home to friends and family who knew they were always welcomed whether invited or simply stopping by to say hello. Those arriving unannounced during the summer months would find Kimberly in the back yard bathing in the sun, wearing her bikini, with an iced tea by her side. Her caring, generous nature will be missed, but her legacy shines in the people she has touched.
She is survived by her husband, Don of Nampa, daughter Jennifer Bleth of Meridian, son Christopher Wright and wife Shani of Nampa and four grandchildren, Jennifer's son Konner and Chris and Shani's children Hayden, Sarah and Hannah.
There will be a celebration of Kimberly's life this Saturday, Dec. 6, at the Alsip Funeral Chapel. The open house will run from 2 to 4 p.m., casual attire is required. As Kimberly would say, "Let's Party!"
Kimberly requested cremation and she will be honored at a later date. Kimberly has requested no flowers, but if you wish to memorialize Kimberly's memory, you can do so by contributing to the
American Cancer Society, 2676 S. Vista Ave., Boise, ID 83705 or a charity of your choice.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Alsip and Persons Funeral Chapel, 404 10th Ave. South, Nampa, ID 83651, 466-3545.
